Most awesome system ever

5

I still have my super old Nintendo hooked up in the play room. There is nothing better than sitting down to play an old game of Mario or some other equally old and equally fun game. The kids love it because it is simple and we love it because it was our first ever gaming system. I wish they were still making it!

The Classic System

5

Nintendo set the standard for video game consoles. Atari was on the market first; but the graphics were so primitive, they hardly qualified as such. I'm not attempting to downplay Atari, but Nintendo took games to a new level. In terms of impact on the gaming world; no other system; with the possible exception of the original Playstation, has matched Nintendo. If I were to note every classic game on Nintendo, this review would be ten pages long. The Legend of Zelda; Super Mario; Final Fantasy; Castlevania and Metroid, still exist as franchises today. Rygar is a classic adventure game, which consumed more of my life then I'd like to admit. Both Gradius and Captain Skyhawk packed more action then the two button controller could handle. Nintendo had games from every genre. A number of accessories were available for the Nintendo, but none of them really did anything for me. The original controllers were fairly comfortable, but the round edged variants were even better. I seem to remember a failed wireless controller as well. Everyone remembers the power glove, but no one remembers liking it. Regardless of these failed experiments, Nintendo didn't need them in the first place. One thing a person will notice when they play the Nintendo is the difference in difficulty. Modern games are often designed around a story; and while they may be difficult, the goal of the designer is to tell that story. The designers on the Nintendo Entertainment System, simply didn't care if we completed the games or not. Games were not designed around stories. Instead, they were designed to challenge the player. Each game was both a test of reflex; concentration, and patience. I played any number of games that I simply could not complete. Likewise, there were many such games that nearly got thrown across the room. If you can pick up a Nintendo Entertainment System; do so; but be warned, the games are merciless. Graphics Quality Modern day cell phones have far more sophisticated graphics; however; at the time, Nintendo was top of the line. Game Variety Not one stone was left unturned. The NES had everything. Controller Comfort The original controllers could get a tad uncomfortable, but the rounded edge type fixed the problem. Ease of Use It couldn't be simpler; put the cartridge in the slot; click down, and turn on. Durability In those days, companies cared about how well they made their product. Plenty of these consoles still work today.

This was the best!

5

I grew up with the Nintendo Classic Entertainment System NES Console. It was the absolute best and was so fun to play. I had mine up until about 5 years ago. It had all the classic games on it and it was the best for playing all games. My favorite game was the duck hunting game and Sonic. I wish they still made this console so kids these days could experience how awesome the NES Console was. This product will be missed!

Favorite game system of all time!

5

I grew up with the Classic Nintendo Entertainment System which gives it a nostalgic feel whenever I take it out to play. From Super Mario Brothers to Kirby and all of the other games, it has probably the easiest and most simplified gaming experience compared to all other systems out there using only an arrow-pad and two buttons (A & B). The game experience is similar to that which you would find in a classic arcade game. Graphics Quality At its time, this system was revolutionary. It has simple 2-dimensional graphics which I am glad Nintendo has continued to use in some of its newer game console games (particularly Mario Brothers). Game Variety Most games have similar side-scrolling, simple commands due to the simplicity of this system. However, you can find a number of sports, action, adventure, etc. games along with games of popular gameshows. Controller Comfort Simple and easy to use. Use the arrow pad for movement and the A and B buttons for the game commands to your character. Ease of Use Put the game cartridge in and turn the system on. Durability One problem you might encounter is the console reading older games. In most cases blowing into the bottom of the game cartridge or jiggling the game cartridge will fix the problem, however.

An amazing classic console!

5

The Original Nintendo Entertainment System is on of the most prized video game consoles ever! It is an 8 bit graphics home console that has so many great games and yes memories for many gamers all over the world spanning many generations. With games like Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers 3, Castlevania, Friday the 13th, The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior, Solstice, Rygar and Metroid the Original Nintendo Entertainment System all by itself launched the face of gaming as we know it today. Although this product is technically discontinued, it is sold in many video game stores and at flee markets and garage sales. The console probably needs to be adapted to the high definition televisions that we have today but there are many converters to help with that and even converters to make old game systems like this one into high definition! So there is still a place for consoles like this one in the world today and the games never get old! There are literally thousands of games to choose from since the console was released back in I believe 1986. There are even sequels to great games such as The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. The Nintendo Entertainment System had so much backing from third party developers that it crushed the competition at the time which was the Sega Master System. This console will always live on. Highly recommended to people who love gaming of all kinds and to collectors also. Graphics Quality For a console with 8 bits of graphics the developers who made the thousands of games for this classic console used every bit of the technology that the system offered. They even enhance the graphics quality further with the background music and sound effects which are absolutely amazing for a system of such small graphics. Game Variety Tremendous game variety. As I said in my overall review of this console Nintendo had great backing from third party developers and together crushed the Sega Master System. Thousands of games to choose from with the NES console including timeless classics such as Metroid, Super Mario Brothers 3, and The Legend of Zelda. Controller Comfort For the block looking controller that it is, the NES controller is very comfortable. It has a D pad, a start and select button, and two main buttons A and B. Very easy to use. Ease of Use The controller is very easy to use and just turn the system on after inserting a game into it and it immediately starts playing the game. Very easy to use all around. Durability The original Nintendo Entertainment System I had was extremely durable. It dropped a billion times on the floor and still worked flawlessly.

Retro Favorite!

5

At the time of it's release the NES was profoundly famous from it's release of the Super Mario Bros. Franchise. The system was quite revolutionary in the books of Nintendo and will always be a Nintendo fan favorite for retro gaming. With the pixelated graphics, it had a vast library of games ranging from the Super Mario Bros., Zelda, CastleVania, etc. This console was a must have at the time of it's release. Millions of gamers began their journey here, on this glorious gaming console. Graphics Quality At the time of it's release, the NES's clustered pix elated graphics were thought to very marvelous and changed the history of gaming, Although the graphics are what would be today's terrible graphics, they had amazing stories that did not need any form of advanced graphics to tell the stories of such amazing and touching games. Game Variety Hundreds of games have been released to the game changing NES system. Controller Comfort The controller is very basic with just the simple rectangular shape and buttons. Takes some time to getting used to. Ease of Use Very easy to use. Just place your NES cartridge in and you're ready to go! Durability Lasts a long time and they are now sold at a large price due to their rarity from not being in production for about thirty years.

the Super Nintendo is the best game system!

5

The Super Nintendo is by far the best video game system that Nintendo made and possibly the best video game system ever. The graphics are incredibly pleasing to the eye. The controller for the game is fun and easy to use. And the games for the Super Nintendo are some of the best games ever and some of the best titles that we see on the market today. Some excellent games for the Super Nintendo are: Super Mario World, Super Mario All Stars, Kirby Super Star, Donkey Kong Country, and many many more. The Super Nintendo also had the super scope which is a lot of fun. There is something about the Super Nintendo that many people are attracted to. In my opinion, it is an all around great system, They dont make them like this anymore.

Simply put, this console raised me.

5

Forget about the current hit consoles like Microsoft's XBOX's or Sony's Playstation's for a second, before all of the current hoopla, and after the NES, came the Super NES, and it was epic. The thing that will stand out the most to me about the super NES is the wide selection of games it had. Really, it was like every other day (back then) there was a brand new release of something to always keep you occupied. The games for this console that stand out are World Cup soccer, Super Mario World, Smash TV and of course any of the Donkey Kong games that came out for the super NES. The console it self had a simple design, similarly colored like the NES, Nintendo's first console that started it all. The controllers were also so well layed out, yes, they were corded back then, but the button setup was just simple and easy for anyone to play. These days it's all A-Z buttons all over the controller, back then we only needed the ABC and D buttons.

SNES = One of a kind, iconic, simply awesome!

5

My gaming experience all started here. This was the very first video game I've ever owned, an iconic landmark in my lifetime. It's a rare gem nowadays, might have luck looking on craigslist or even eBay. Luckily, I still have mine and it's still in good, playing condition. When you're tired of playing hours of Halo on your 360, you just want to unwind and kick back by revisiting the days of 16-bit glory. The SNES is where my adventures started with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy II, Mega Man X and Super Punch-Out. Who could ever forget the painful thumb (and index finger) blisters caused by hours of taking your friends to school when you duked it out in Street Fighter 2 Turbo? The system is remarkably known for a vast library of games and its ability to provide engrossing entertainment for years. From Earthworm Jim to Wayne's World, the possibilites are endless. Also, I'd like to point out the fact that playing SNES on the emulators just isn't the same as playing the actual system. I sure do love blowing the dust off of my cartridges when they don't start up correctly. So once again, live out your glory days and get your hands on an SNES (tough journey).
