I just got this at Christmas and fell in love completely. I have had other digital cameras but no SLR like this one. You can do so much with it, although I am still learning about it. If you want to take great pictures even in low light, you have to get this lens. This lens also comes in F1.4. You will need this lens if you take portraits, or if you want to produce professional quality pictures. The zoom lens is good as a universal lens. If you need a new digital camera, look no further. This is the best thing since sliced bread! You simply point and shoot. It doesn't take a bad picture!  The battery charges and stays charged. We bought this camera less than a year ago and I LOVE it. The photo quality is incredible/ For the beginner put it in Auto mode and go, you will get great quality photos.
