The Nikon D70 DSLR is a great camera. I purchased it with the kit lens. The camera is easy to use, takes great photographs, and holds up well even after being dropped (a few times). I have taken wedding photographs, portraits, and I have even photographed birth photos with this camera and have gotten outstanding results a majority of the time. I have had 16x20 prints and higher made from photos taken with this camera. They have turned out beautifully. My only criticism of this camera is that at the higher ISO settings the photos do become grainy, but usually the graininess can be removed later on with advanced editing software or something like "Neat Image" software. The metering is usually pretty accurate on the auto settings, but you will yield much more consistent results if using the manual setting, especially when back lighting is a concern. This camera focuses quickly and efficiently which is important when taking photographs of young children who are always on the go. I have found that the location of the buttons needed to change the shutter speed and aperture are conveniently located and comfortable to use. I have very small hands and found that many cameras felt heavy and bulky in my hands while trying to change settings manually. In high sunlit situations, I am still able to view my LCD screen, unlike many of the competitors DSLR cameras. However, the screen in my opinion, is not large enough. I much prefer the sizing of the LCD screen on the Nikon D300 camera. Due to the small size of the LCD screen, editing in camera is not really an option with this camera (ie. zooming in on the LCD screen is a bit cumbersome). I have owned this camera for several years now, and it is still going strong. Over the years, I have added a few other "extras" which have enhanced my love for this camera. As I was researching cameras, I initially had narrowed down my choice to either a D70 or Canon of a similar grade. Well, I have to say that as a result of owning the Nikon D70 DSLR, I would whole-heartidly admit to being a "Nikon gal." To produce even more beautiful photographs, add a 50mm f1.8 lens, and an external Nikon flash. Then, you will have the whole package, which I am certain you won't be disappointed with!
