The Nikon D70 is an affordable entry level DSLR camera. The features are great for the serious hobbyist. It allows you to have full manual control, along with other modes to control aperture and shutter speed. Good camera for the price. I do struggle for all of my pictures to get in focus, but that's when you take the camera off auto mode. I do recommend you take the time to learn your camera. I've had it close to a year now and am still learning a lot about the camera.
