The Nikon D60 is an upgrade from the older D40x and a worthwhile one at that. It's an excellent walk around camera for anyone who loves taking great photos. It's fast, takes very sharp life like photos. Very easy to setup and use with the good menu system it won't take long to get used to it. You could just put it on Auto mode (Point and shoot) and get very good results if you choose. It's is much better than ANY point and shoot camera, it will blow you away with the image quality.

The D60 is on the Smaller side of the DSLR cameras so it's easy to carry and very light weight, good if you...

Let me start by saying that I love this camera. It is my first digital SLR and it is very user-friendly. I read the owner manual once and was able to figure things out from that and the easy to use in-camera menus. I love the editing features in the camera that allow you to enhance your images without having to use a computer program. The editing features are very extensive and are unique to Nikon. I looked for those features in the similar Canon and Sony models and they either don't have them or they are very limited.

This camera takes amazing pictures! They come out wonderfully crisp and sharp...

I waited a long time to convert over to a digital camera; waiting for the quality to get good enough to compare to the film camera, and last year finally gave in and bought one. After a lot of research I settled on the Nikon D60 for it's reasonable cost, similarity in look and feel to a film camera, and brand reliability.

I received it promptly and immediately started playing around with it. Even after a year I know I still have a lot of learning to do and figuring out of all the menu settings, but I've been very happy with it just the same. In point and shoot mode it is easy to use for anyone...

My wife last year mentioned she wanted to buy a nice camera, to get out and take some nice pictures.  She wanted to take a photography class and take pictures as a hobby.  I decided to buy her one for Christmas, and after researching many sites, many camera owners and anything else I could, I settled on the Nikons.

The only reason I bought the D60 was the price, the others were more expensive, with the exception of the D40 and D40x.  The D40 does not have the options the D60 has, and is only 6 megapixel.  If you're going to take the pictures, for the price buy the D60.  Though the D40x is a...

I purchased the Nikon D60 the day before going on a trip to Hawaii.  Having owned several Nikon point and shoot cameras, I've grown accustom to the Nikon interface and wanted to continue to use it.  Being a techie, I would normally choose a higher end model, but since this was a last minute purchase, I wasn't willing to invest the amount of cash required to go with the D90 or D300.  Although reading more about the D90 on the flight to Hawaii, I started to have second thoughts about not purchasing the higher model.

The buyer's remorse ended just a few minutes after shooting my first pictures...

I got this deal at amazon for Nikon D60. Its just amazing. Got 18-55 and 55-200 VR lenses along with other goodies such as extra battery, bag, memory card reader, 4 gb card, full size tripod, cleaning kit etc... And all for just $709.

I love the way it captures the photos. It is very simple for a DSLR starter like me. I was using Olympus digicam earlier with a 10x zoom and just shifted to DSLR. And love trying it out.

It has very neat preset options like Landscape, Child, No Flash, Portraits etc. Great product as such, but one really needs to spend some time for getting used to it. I guess this...

I love my Nixon D-60.  I have always loved taking pictures, actually I am a bit obsessed and have always dreamed of having a digital SLR.  After much research, I decided on the D-60 and I have loved it since I have had it, about 6 months now.  I have taken over 2500 pictures since then.  It's easy enough to immediately begin to take pictures, but advanced enough for a professional to use.  I have used it in the dark, in bright sunlight, in movement, on dark, cloudy days, inside; everywhere imaginable.  Every picture comes out great.  The one problem I had with my previous camera was that...

I own a Nikon 35mm SLR camera and I am a hobbiest photographer.  This Nikon was my current dream camera.  I mentioned to my mother that I would love to have this camera and since she was in the market for a digital camera she went out and bought it.  She was glad not to have the hastle of comparing.  I have honestly used it more than she has. It is similar in design to my 35mm so I felt comfortable right away with using it.  I must say there is so much more to this camera then just using it like you would a point and shoot camera.  I love that I can use it on manual and reset it...

My Nikon D60 digital camera provides all of the power of digital SLR photography in a small package.  It is economical because it uses SD memory cards, without sacrificing any of the functionality of a SLR camera.  With the vibration reduction lens technology, I can shoot pictures at up to three stops lower than conventional lenses.  Anyone new to digital SLR photograpy will find the camera easy to use.  From completely automatica point and shoot to fully manual adjustments, the D60 will take great pictures all of the time.  There are so many features that are easily learned, this camera is...

The Nikon D60 is a great camera. It is lightweight and compact which is great for travel. It has a 200mm VR lense which is great for vibration reduction which can cause pictures to be less blurry. The camera comes with many features from built in effects, red eye reduction, color metering, lighting, and others. I would recommend this camera to others.

I have been able to take great pictures with my camera. It has allowed me to experience digital photography and take it to the next level. This is a great starter camera as well because it is not to difficult to learn.

I enjoy my Nikon and look...

After going back and forth between the Nikon D-40, Nikon D-60, and the Nikon D-90 I choose the Nikon D-60.

The D-40 seems a little too simple and like a cheap SLR camera which the D-90 is just a little bit too advanced- more for the serious person trying to really get into photography. The D-60 has a light weight easy grip feel. The pictures come out crisp and clear!

I am very happy and am glad that I choose the D-60. When I bought the camera with taxes it was right around $600.

I would like to say that if you are looking to get a new digital camera and looking to drop a good penny-...

The Nikon D60 is a fantastic beginner's DSLR.  After using a digital point-n-shoot for several years, I was ready to upgrade to a camera with automatic functions and more options, but my budget was limited.  The D60 is accessibly priced and seems to me like a very good value for the money.  The main reason I chose the Nikon over other brands is that I like the feel of it and the placement of the controls. Although it is a bit overwhelming at first - all those functions and menus! - I'm learning my way around quickly (and I'm very happy with the photos I'm taking).  And when I'm ready to upgrade... read full review »

I purchased the Nikon D60 about 10 months ago and I love it still.  In comparison to other cameras, it's not too expensive and takes great photos.  I don't use mine professionally but I have used it for a friends wedding and they pics turned out great.  My only complaint with the D60 is the continuous shooting mode.  The manual states that it will shoot 3 frames per second, but it seems like it gets hung up sometimes.  It will shoot the first one, then it keeps trying to refocus before shooting the 2nd. But all in all, the camera was well worth the money as long as you get the lenses to go...

This camera is awesome!!  Love the interchangeable lenses, able to get great results with whatever lense you pick.  Pictures turn out great and the camera has many options to pick from to improve your pictures even more.  Great package deal with camera and lenses.  Perfect for the first-time SLR camera owner.  Does take a little bit of time to figure out the different settings and what works for which pictures, but it is fun to play around with and take different pictures.

Purchasing my Nikon D60 is one of the best decisions I ever made and I got a really great deal at Costco on the D60, two lens, and a carrying case.   The huge improvement in the quality of my photos has helped me to start an online photo business.   The ease of using the auto or manual settings provides so many opportunities.   I carry my Nikon D60 everywhere I go and love the portraits, landscapes and closeup shots I have captured. Nikon is synonymous with quality.
