The Nikon D60 is a fantastic beginner's DSLR. After using a digital point-n-shoot for several years, I was ready to upgrade to a camera with automatic functions and more options, but my budget was limited. The D60 is accessibly priced and seems to me like a very good value for the money. The main reason I chose the Nikon over other brands is that I like the feel of it and the placement of the controls. Although it is a bit overwhelming at first - all those functions and menus! - I'm learning my way around quickly (and I'm very happy with the photos I'm taking). And when I'm ready to upgrade again, I can invest in new lenses - that's the beauty of an SLR camera!
