I got this deal at amazon for Nikon D60. Its just amazing. Got 18-55 and 55-200 VR lenses along with other goodies such as extra battery, bag, memory card reader, 4 gb card, full size tripod, cleaning kit etc... And all for just $709.
I love the way it captures the photos. It is very simple for a DSLR starter like me. I was using Olympus digicam earlier with a 10x zoom and just shifted to DSLR. And love trying it out.
It has very neat preset options like Landscape, Child, No Flash, Portraits etc. Great product as such, but one really needs to spend some time for getting used to it. I guess this will be same for all the DSLR cameras.
Nikon D60 is in the startup DSLR category. What limits its use is the lack of on body motor for auto focus. However Nikon has taken care of it in the lenses. But because of this the non AF lenses would not work with this camera.
The 55-200 lens is good, but gives poor results without VR if handheld.
The continuous shooting mode works great.
It has only 3 focus points which really limits the creative ability and thats where the competitor like Canon scores which offers 9 focus points for its startup version. Also another feature where canon scores is the live preview.
All in all, Nikon D60 keeps all its promises and gives a affordable option for users like me who are just shifting to DSLR or more serious photography. Also Nikon offers all kinds of lenses to suit this camera which really takes away the reservation one might have for no on-body AF motor.
I have bought it just last month, but I am loving it.
