Let me start by saying that I love this camera. It is my first digital SLR and it is very user-friendly. I read the owner manual once and was able to figure things out from that and the easy to use in-camera menus. I love the editing features in the camera that allow you to enhance your images without having to use a computer program. The editing features are very extensive and are unique to Nikon. I looked for those features in the similar Canon and Sony models and they either don't have them or they are very limited.

This camera takes amazing pictures! They come out wonderfully crisp and sharp every time unlike the point and shoot cameras that you take a gamble on getting an in-focus shot. I like all the pre-set options that the D60 offers and I used those all the time at first. They really produce great pictures. I am now venturing into using the Aperture priority and Shutter priority modes and am finding that I LOVE the results I get from those modes. It takes a little more practice, but it's worth it. My goal is to use the fully manual mode and really unlock this camera's potential in the near future.

The things I don't love about this camera are few, but I feel I need to list them for you:

1) There are only 3 auto-focus points. I would've really preferred the 9 - point auto focus of either the Canon or Sony models, but the D60's other benefits outweighed that.

2) You have to dig into the menu to use the continuous shooting mode and to adjust the white balance setting. I like how the other models have their own buttons for those on the outside of the camera.

Other than that, I love my D60. Again, those complaints are small, but I do sometimes get frustrated with them. Overall though, the many other features on the D60 outweighed those other factors and I am happy that I chose to go with the Nikon over both the Canon and Sony models. I actually got to try out a friend's Canon Rebel XTI for a while over the Christmas holiday and even with its extra auto-focus points I came away thinking "I'm so glad I bought the Nikon instead!"
