The D50 has been a great camera for my wife and I. it takes great pictures and is very durable. It is pretty heavy though. You will definitely need a camera bag to carry it in, but I think the quality of the pictures makes it worth it. The only other criticism is that it is really hard to figure out how to turn off the flash. I think it is definitely worth the investment. Definitely get the remote and a longer zoom lense. The lense it comes with is fairly limiting.
