Nikon - D50 Digital Camera Reviews

The Nikon D-50 digital SLR is an all around great camera for all your photo needs.

It is very easy to use with many features and settings to help you get the best photograph you can get,  you get a good long life out of the battery for when your on the road taking your winning photos,.

There are many lenses for you to use to get up close and life size pictures of that strange bug  you just found. Plus get the action shots you long for when the children are playing.

Then you can get the memories of them when they graduate, the SD memory card will hold all your pictures till you can get to your computer...

I bought my Nikon D50 2 years ago.  I bought it for the inteded use of starting my own photography business. I am now a proud owner of my own on location photography business!!!  My camera works great and I have added more lenses to my collection.  I love that I can switch my lenses to get the effect or distance that I need.  I dont have anything negative to say about the Nikon products.  If I have ever had a question or concern the website has always been able to offer assistance. 

I know that the D50 is an older model, but the body style is much easier to navigate then some of the others. ...

The Nikon D50 is a very good perforner on the market of digital single lens reflex camera's. Nikon is a well known brand and therefore the Nikon D50 at the introduction was allready a winner. Compaired to other Nikon DSLR's in the price range (approx $ 700 body only for the D50) the D50 has a few things different :

- Just one command dial on the back (in M mode you set the apature while holding the e/v button and scrolling with the major command dial on the back. personally i don't miss the secon command dial (like that of a D70(s) )

- New Auto focus mode , AF-A (it also has AF-S and AF-C) in AF-A...

 This wasn't my first digital camera but the first time I ownes a Nikon.This was given to me as a gift and I know little about cameras. The instruction book was easy to understand and I had no problem setting the camera up. I was amazed hoe great the pictures turned out. It has sharp colors and picked up on the details of the object or objects you are taking. I took lots of pictures of my grandchildren during their sporting events and they were as clear as could be. I love the different settings. There is one for children or one for action. I also used it at the races. Every picture was clear....

The Canon D50 was a little scary for me at first but after reading quickly through the manual it was fantastic.  If you are an amateur photographer like I am, then I strongly suggest setting the camera to the auto focus setting.  This will let the camera do the focusing for you.  However, there are times when I want the focus to be on a further object and it focuses on the closer item.  You can also press the button numerous times and the camera will show you in the screen what area it's focusing on.  I do suggest reading the manual for using the special features.  As I only take pictures...

I've been using my Nikon D-50 (a lot) since March 2006, and I just love it.  I take an average of almost 10,000 photos per year (27,800 so far in just over 3 years).  I bought the 2-lens kit that comes with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens, and I use the 18-55 most of the time.  I also bought a 3rd Nikon lens (28-80mm), and that's my current favorite.  When I go to University of Michigan baseball games, I switch to my 55-200mm lens and get photos as good as the professionals covering the games.

It took me a while to figure out some of the more obscure features of the camera, but not that long...

I have been using the Nikon D50 with my students in photography for the last semester and I must say that these cameras are built like tanks. Kids really don't care for them well, but there have been no issues with any of them so far except for a vandalized USB port. These cameras take pictures of amazing quality and are really easy to use. My students and I love the knob that lets you select many different types of features from motion and macro to landscape and night photos. One cool feature is the bulb mode, where you can use flashlights to draw anything that the camera will capture. For example,...

This is my 3rd Nikon purchase--the Nikon D50. I've been so happy in the past with my SLR and digital cameras from Nikon, that I could not wait to purchase a DSLR.  I have not been disappointed.  It takes pictures just like the SLR I have been missing for so many years. It's easy to change lenses. So easy to get the exact shot I want! I have not had  a need to use the manual as of yet, but it's comforting to know it's there for reference. So far, I have been able to play around easy enough with the settings to make the camera do exactly what I'm looking for in my pictures.  If I could change...

Great start up camera. Stock lense is horrible.  My sister had the same package and it broke within the first year for both of us.  Get an extra lense on hand.  Some production dates had battery charger issues were the battery would catch fire an ende up being recalled.

Still use this as a regular camera 4yrs later.  D60 is replacement model--no D40.  D40 is technically a "coolpix" model and even in Japan they state that in owners manual.  D60 is a downgrade from D50 w/less features.

great start out camera.  Not professional at all.

I purchased my Nikon D50 in February of 2006. Since then I've taken several thousand gigs of photos. I think this camera is easy for the novice photographer, but has features that more intermediate users will enjoy. Its almost impossible to take a bad photograph with this unit.

I like the ease of changing the lenses. Camera body could be a little smaller, but weight is just right for holding the camera steady. Menus are easy to read and scroll through. LED screen allows quick review and deletion of photographs if needed. The built in flash could be a adjustable, but as a whole this is an excellent...

This camera has taken my photography to a whole other level.  My clients are very happy with the results that I can achieve with this camera. 

I also like to travel a lot, and with this camera it's very simple to take pictures from the road with great results.  It's always nice to know that I can expect great results from the pictures I take while driving (yes, it's possible once you figure exactly how to aim the camera without looking in the viewfinder LOL) because I'm usually hundreds of miles down the road before I finally see the pictures on my laptop.
