Great starter product. Bad stock lense.

Pros

Lots of options for taking photos, will most likely not limit most users, Clear LED, can switch to any lense, Can go from auto to total manual mode, works well in low lite, great for sports photography, endless ability, Fast Start-up

Cons

stock lense breaks easily, some of the battery chargers were recall, it's big and heavy, a bit outdated now, Flash only has one position., battery chargers catches fire-recalls

Nikon - D50 Digital Camera —

Great start up camera. Stock lense is horrible. My sister had the same package and it broke within the first year for both of us. Get an extra lense on hand. Some production dates had battery charger issues were the battery would catch fire an ende up being recalled.

Still use this as a regular camera 4yrs later. D60 is replacement model--no D40. D40 is technically a "coolpix" model and even in Japan they state that in owners manual. D60 is a downgrade from D50 w/less features.

great start out camera. Not professional at all.
