This is a great camera that works great and is easy to use...if you read the helpful manual, if not, the basic functions are easy to operate. There are several picture modes to pick from, my personal favorite is the portrait mode, where the background is slightly blurred to be sure that your main focus is on the person and not what's behind them.
I love that I can switch from automatic to manual with just a flip of the switch. I can then blur the entire picture slightly or alot depending on the effect I want to achieve. You can take what's called RAW pictures, I've heard that it's something alot of professionals are using now, but I have never used this.
One of my favorite things about this camera is that I can change the lens very easily. This is a helpful feature in buying this camera as well as using it. If you cant afford a very large lens at the moment you can get the camera with a smaller lens on it and then buy larger lenses as you go. This is what I did. The camera came with a small very simple lens for about $800.00 and then later on I purchased a larger lens (I can't recall the price at the moment)
There are 2 things that I don't care too much for, one is the size of the camera is a bit big for some of the things I would like to use it for. And you HAVE to use the optical view finder, this is a very slight problem for me because I wear glasses and it just seems easier to take pictures on a camera with a digital screen view finder VS the small optical one. Other than that I have not come across any problems with it.
