gadget geek, picky about pictures, Pro photographer
The Nikon D200 is more camera than I need. It is my wife's camera and we got it for her about a year ago. I've had many opportunities to use it and there is no question that it takes pictures of wonderful quality. — What It Is — The Nikon D200 is a single-lens reflex (SLR) camera body, and it can be bought without a lens, which is how we purchased it. We fitted it with an inexpensive 3x zoom lens and a much more expensive 11x zoom lens, both from Nikon and made to work with the D200. The camera has 10 megapixels of resolution but this only scratches the surface of the…

a person who enjoys quality, looking for durability, loving my digital camera, loving this product, married, Photo junkie, picky about pictures, willing to pay for quality
I am a Navy photographer and use the Nikon D200 for my job. It is a very reliable camera and has a lot of options to individualize my photos. Instead of relying on computer programs I can edit and shoot many things within the camera, including RAW. Double exposure is one of my favorite and not found on very many digital cameras. Though there is always a special place in my heart for black and white film photography digital is another option to consider and this camera is very affective. —…

intermediate-user, picky about pictures, a parent, willing to pay for quality, pc-user, attached to my camera, impressed with this product, a woman
I have owned the Nikon D200 for almost a year now. It is an excellant camera and I've had much success with it. It is a 10 mega pixel, which helps with quality and file size if you like stock photography. You can start taking quality pictures right off the bat without having to play with adjustments. Once you become more familiar with the camera, then you can fine tune it however you like. There are many setting built in that can be fine tuned but, if you're not sure of what you are doing it can be quite confusing. Only negative thing I thought of the Nikon D200 was when I first purchased it.…

— I have now owned the D200 for over a year and a half and have shot thousands of pictures with it. It is well built, mine has been lugged to Asia twice and to the western region of the United States about 3 times now. — —
I have made some great prints from this camera. I have very pleased with it having the black & white mode built into it since I often like creating B/W prints. — —
The controls on the camera are mush nicer than most other DSLRs. You have direct manual dial control of many key functions, such as, exposure mode and ISO settings. This…

value conscious, a person who enjoys quality, doing careful research
I finally switched to digital and have found this camera to give me the ability to continue to get the photos that I want. I like the fact that the D200 is nearly the same as my F100 so I can switch between film and digital easily. — The only downside to the D200 that I have found is the automatic setting for the white balance does not seem to be accurate. It is fine for natural daylight but for incandescent lighting it did not get the colors correct. The photos still had some yellow to it. When I switched to the incandescent setting the colors were correct.…

loving this product, Pro photographer, value conscious
A superb digital camera. Excellent image quality. Super fast continuous frame rate even shooting in RAW. Large LCD display screen. A professional quality camera in every respect. — A huge upgrade over the D100 it replaces. The custom white balance function yields PERFECT color balance underwater at depth of 50 feet even in relatively poor visibility water (which according to most published sources shouldn't be possible due to a lack of red penetrating beyond 15 feet). — Compatible with most Nikon SLR lenses of the past 50 years (albeit sometimes without functions such…

looking for durability, a busy person, loving this product, value conscious, appreciative of good service, willing to pay for quality, Pro photographer, gadget geek
I love my D200! I suggest getting the additional battery pack with it I can photograph all day (about 1,000 pics) and still have juice left over. I love leaving it on automatic and letting it sense the best settings, and also appreciate the ease with which I can take over when conditions make it better to be in manual. — The speed is fabulous. I can make a flip book of one of our dance sets. The continuous shoot feature is handy doing group pictures to make sure you have the best chance of one with eyes open and facing you. — …

My wife stalks a key deer in Florida with her Nikon D200 fitted with an 18-200mm lens.

Here's a larger shot showing the friendly pelican. This is at a bird rehabilitation camp in the Florida Keys.
