Terrible zoom and focus

1

I really disliked this camera. The zoom function is terrible and no matter how you adjust your distance from the object, it still ends up blurry. I've played through every button and option in the camera but it still shakes on its own and blurs on the image. It takes more than 30 seconds to autofocus but the picture quality is still horrible. I originally thought that Nikon was a good brand and this one would be a convenient camera to own. But overall, it is not what I expected. Even the ones I tried elsewhere had the same problem so I know for a fact that it is not just the one I had purchased. If you are looking for a nice camera to take on vacation and get quick shots, this is not a camera to own. Even the settings are very limited and not up to par. There is an option where you can blur the background, but the entire image is made blurry, which ultimately defeats the purpose. The coloring of the image is also very off from what is displayed on the screen versus what is shown on the computer. On the computer, it may look clear, but on the screen, there is always an off-white yellowish hue to the image.

Parent friendly!

I bought this camera for my non-tech saavy mom for her birthday. These were the qualifications she looked for: 3" LCD screen (because of her eyes), slim and can fit in a pocket and 12x zoom. For me the 3" LCD screen was the hardest to find. Typically cameras this size have 3.7" screens. Another thing we wanted to make sure of is that it'll be easy for my mom to figure out and use. She won't read the manual. This camera seems to fit the mold. The con would be that it uses regular batteries, rather than the rechargable packs that other cameras typically use. Who uses regular batteries anymore? That means she will always have to have AA batteries on hand and it will burn through the battery use quickly.

It's flash bounces on to the picture and ruins it.I had a sony it was much better. also the Coolpix does not have the range in ints lens for wide angle ans it also creates horrible red eye.I am so disappointed with the money I spent on this camera.

Not a great camera for low lighting

1

I got this camera as a birthday present to replace my very bulky 4 year old Kodak camera before I left to study abroad. I didn't know much about the camera when I first, I think my parents only chose it because they thought the feature where you could doodle on your pictures would be fun for me, so I looked up reviews for it online and saw a lot of good reviews for it, and it had a nice sleek design, so I decided I would keep it and give it try. The camera works great if you are outside with a lot of light so I it was great when I was out sightseeing, but that is about it. I also use my camera to take pictures when my friends and I go out, but this camera fails to me my needs in this area. It does not work indoors at all. Either the picture comes out incredibly blurry or the flash gives everyone a very odd complexion. The camera also has a dusk and night function, but these do not work when taking pictures at night. The pictures are better and less blurry when you just use the regular setting and you don't have to wait the extra 20 seconds for the picture to actually take.

We returned the Coolpix S200 because of blurry pictures

2

I bought the Nikon Coolpix S200 Digital Camera as a Christmas present for my wife.  I wanted to update her current CoolPix camera.  We started taking pictures and immediately were disappointed.  The pictures were coming out blurry.  We played around with the settings and still the quality of the pictures were poor.  We got online and researched a bit and found out we were not the only ones having problems.  It may have been because of low lighting (normal indoor lighting) but this would be a lot of where our pictures would be taken and especially of our children.  We ended up returning it and exchanging it for a different camera all together.  I did like that the camera was small and could easily fit into a pocket.  It was easy to use and the features were easy to figure out.  The screen was a larger upgrade from our last camera and that was nice.  But if the camera takes blurry pictures then none of these features are worthwhile.

This is a great camera. I bought it as a wedding gift for my wife and she loves it. It's got enough features and settings that she's satisfied (and it gets the jobs she wants done) and it's simultaneously simple enough for me to use. I'm very computer and technologically adept; but I've never really gotten to play around much with many cameras. For the most part, I'm content with the one on my iPhone... but if I really want good pictures (or the ability to take multiple shots quickly), I'll recruit my wife and her tiny camera. I considered buying her a Sony camera with a touchscreen, but all the reviews I read said that while the interfaces were nice and the touchscreen was a nice gimmick--the picture quality suffered. That said, I figured my wife would better appreciate nice pictures than being able to tap her screen like an iPhone. So far, she's said I was right in my assumption. The video quality on this thing isn't HD, but it's got a decent enough resolution when you remind yourself that it's a *camera*--not a camcorder.

I received my Nikon Coolpix S200 as a Christmas gift, and have been grateful since I got it. It is a handy camera that is small enough that I can take it wherever I go, which is useful when on vacation or just hanging out around town. It had a video feature, which I absolutely love. I have been able to share videos of my friends and family online with others who are related to me. I also like that it has a timer feature on it, because I have been able to take pictures of my family and friends AND still have been able to be in the picture myself (which is a rarity for me) because I can set the timer for 10 seconds and get in with the group!  It is also very easy for me to upload the pictures and video onto my computer because of the handy cable that it comes with.  The battery has a pretty long life, and the charger is also pretty easy to transport. Over all, if you are shopping for a fairly inexpensive camera that has a lot of good features, I would recommend purchasing this camera for your family or friends. You won't regret it.

ease of use digital camera

4

I purchased a Nikon Coolpix S200 digital camera approximately two months ago.  I love this camera.  My husband thinks it is attached to my hand, because I am always taking a picture of something.  The camera is a great value, because of all the wonderful features it has.  It is very easy to use, with the on screen directions.  There are plenty of icons, that describe what each feature is used for.  All you have to do is toggle over one, and press the set button and you are ready to go.  Switching between taking pictures and viewing pictures is a one button push.  I also love the zoom in and zoom out. The range of zoom is very good, and the picture quality stays clear no matter what zoom range you are in.  When I show pictures I have taken to friends and family, they want to know what brand of camera it is.  I am very happy to recommend this camera to them.  Downloading your pictures from the camera is very simple, with the usb-camera connecting cable.  This cable comes with the camera.  All you need to do is purchase a memory card, put in the batteries, and you are ready to take many memorable pictures.
