As a part time professional photographer I have a great DSLR (also a Nikon) but I need something to carry around easier to catch all those great moments with my young kids. This camera has. A great zoom for the size and good megapixels. These were my highest priorities when researching. The only thing I am still getting used to is the pop up flash. Sometimes I end up inadvertently blocking it and am worried that will ruin the mechanism if I don't knock it off. It does eliminate those pics where you covered some or all of the flash with your finger and the pic doesn't come out. Thrilled with the MP went from an older point and shoot that was only 8 MP so this is. A huge step up along with doubling my zoom I am a happy camper. The screen is a good size on the back too. It's easy to use and navigate the menus. Videos are good too. Portability Slightly bigger than my last model. I wish it was a tiny bit smaller but it's worth it for the zoom and image quality.

I wanted a camera that was a step above the basic point and shoot but that would still be portable and easy to use.  I am very pleased with the Coolpix S8000 so far.  It has a 10x zoom, which allows me to capture sports and my kids on the playground without them knowing I am taking the picture.  The LCD screen is large and very clear.  The feature that I use the most is probably the sports continuous mode.  This is great, you just hold the button down and it takes picture after picture.  This works great for taking pictures of toddlers or anyone else that doesn't like to cooperate!  The quality of the pictures has been good - I am by no means an expert, but everything looks very lifelike and never washed out.  My one complaint is that the flash is in sort of an awkward place - right where you would hold the camera.  I am ok with this as I have adapted, but when others use my camera they always end up pushing the flash down by accident.  All in all, a great purchase!

I dreaded the day the old Canon camera died.  It had been so reliable and took great pictures.  I went to the camera store and did some research and tried out MANY cameras in the process before settling with the Nikon - COOLPIX S8000.  I am so pleased with the Nikon - COOLPIX S8000.  It is so lightweight compared to my Canon and is small, so that when I'm on vacation, it fits in my pocket and doesn't weigh me down.  The screen is big and sharp and it just takes terrific pictures.  I have even been able to take action shots without getting only a big blur as a result.  Another big plus is that this does not require batteries!  No more having your camera die at an important event because you forgot to bring extras!  You do have to charge this one, but it holds the charge for a good long time. The price is not bad for the quality for the pictures.  I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who takes lots of pictures!

**The Nikon COOLPIX S8000 Digital Camera is a pretty reliable camera. It took very clear pictures and was very easy to use and set up otno my computer. The zoom function comes in handy if you go to a lot of concerts and have to sit way in the back, but the pictures aren't as good as if you were up close to the action you are shooting. It takes pretty clear pictures outdoors and I found it to be a very durable product. I accidently dropped it on a trip to the zoo with my school and thought it was a total loss by low and behold when I picked it up, the only thing that was wrong with it was a few minor scratches. Im not saying you can drop it a bunch of times, but a small drop won't kill it. The look of the camera is very sleek and stylish and it's not to big so it won't take up too much room in your bag or purse. Overall, the camera is pretty good quality for the price but shop around and try to find the best deal first.**
