Must Have Lens

I purchased this lens around one year ago and haven't regretted my decision. It is a prime lens so you cannot zoom with it. That being said, it gives you amazing clarity and works really well in low-light conditions. If you are looking for a lens that gives you a blurred background on a portrait you have come to the right place. I originally had the 1.8 but decided to upgrade to the 1.4 when I switched from Canon to Nikon. The 1.8 works really well and is at a great price but if you want to take the step up this is a good lens to get. I have found that shooting at a 2.8 for a single person portrait allows me to get plenty of light into the camera but gives me a beautiful background as well. It will work well as a standard lens on your camera but if you are looking to be far away from your subject and zoom in you will not be able to accomplish that. Another point to make about this lens is that you need to make sure you actually focus on the subject and not something in the foreground or you will get a totally blurred subject.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G Lens for Nikon Rocks!

I recently got this lens as a Christmas gift. I am getting used to not having the capability to zoom back and forth, but instead moving myself back and forth! The quality is amazingly amazing compared to my lens that came with the camera! It is SOOO much better with low light and has such greater quality. I love to shoot indoor newborns and outdoors portraits. It is perfect for these things. My D90 works so with it, too. I can't compare it with a 1.8 or even 1.4D, but this 1.4G is awesome! I would definitely reccommend it as a starter lens for a person getting into photography and for some one that is just wanting better quality photos. It has helped me in this! I think it is worth the cost of it and then some!!
