I got the Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f-4-5.6G several years ago and it is wonderful. It's not too heavy and auto focuses with the entry level Nikon D60. It takes absolutely amazing photos and is so easy to use. It allows you the ability to autofocus or manually focus which is nice. The pictures that it takes are so crisp and clear. The color quality is great and it's a really nice fast lens so you get good pictures in lower light. It's a good zoom distance and the VR seems to help with the stability. It's got a good range too and is nice for traveling or for shooting sports, etc. It's nice to be able to get a great shot without having to be so close up. It handles quick movements really well and it's excellent for nature shots and portaits. It's not too heavy which is good if you want to bring it with you when you're traveling. I've been incredibly happy with this lens and it's compatible with the other cameras if I decide to upgrade.

I received the Nikon 55-200 lens for Christmas, and I have used it many, many times already.  It has been the perfect addition to our Nikon D80.  We already had standard and wide angle lenses, but we were definitely missing this lens, until now, that is!  This lens has the perfect depth of field for taking portraits and easily getting that "fuzzy" background effect without much manual adjustment necessary.  The vibration reduction feature is especially helpful since my hand isn't the steadiest, and you can even turn the VR on and off with a switch on the side of the lens.  The only necessary addition we have found so far is the UV lens protector, which we add to all of our lenses to protect from breakage and scratches.  It is also nice to not have to clean the lens directly.  The lens is the largest of our lenses, but it really doesn't add too much weight to the camera.  We are very pleased with this lens and can't wait to use it on even more subjects!!

The Nikon AF-s DX VR Zoom Nikkor 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G IF is a really good telephoto lens. I have taken several photographs from a distance and had no problem with being able to zoom in and keep the clarity of the image focused on in the final photograph. This lens has the options of shooting in auto focus and manual focus.  I use both auto and manual focus options with my lens and camera with no problems at all.  The VR setting is an option that you can turn on and off.  I do not use this option at all because I have not been able to tell the difference between my photographs when I use it or not.  Otherwise, the overall qualities of this lens is the fact that it is easy to use, excellent quality and durability and lightweight.  It is an excellent addition to a persons camera bag!  One thing that you need to take note of when purchasing this lens is that it does not have a macro option.  This lens is limited on distance from an object that it will focus on and therefore a good macro shot is almost impossible.
