Melaleuca, a pharmaceutical company that markets natural and non-toxic products, partnered with designer Nicole Miller to create a line of cosmetics and face care products. The Nicole Miller Refine Purifying Mud Masque is a pore-cleansing masque made with all non-caustic, non-toxic, and many natural ingredients to remove impurities, eliminate excess oil, and treat skin kindly with vitamins and minerals. Each 2.6 tube comes in a white cardboard box. The tube has a twist-off cap and is sealed to keep the product from being contaminated before it reaches you. Melaleuca preferred customers can get this masque for $14.50, and non-preferred customers will pay $24.50 (plus S&H). Because Melaleuca only markets their product online, the Nicole Miller line must be purchased through a Melauca membership.
What I like about it: The masque is not terribly thick, so it is very easy to spread gently on skin without pulling. It has a light herbal smell and is a pretty pale green color. The ingredient list includes algae, kaolin (a mineral-infused mud), aloe vera oil, sweet almond kernel extract, witch hazel, soy protein, cucumber extract, and green tea extract, as well as several other ingredients that are not necessarily natural but are not harmful (so no petroleum-derived chemicals, no parabens, no pthalates). The masque did not dry too quickly, so it felt like it was working longer than other masques I've tried. Having used many other mud masques, one of the things I've always hated is how my face feels like it might crack if I smile as the masque dries. Not so with Nicole Miller Refine Purifying Mud Masque. I didn't feel any pulling or much tightness as the masque air-dried. Rinsing it off was also fairly easy. I used a washcloth to gently rub the masque off then rinsed with water. I experienced no redness, dryness, or irritation immediately following its use or within the next few days. My skin felt so smooth after I rinsed off. I could tell that it had drawn impurities out of my skin, as I had some pores that got raised as the toxins came out, which is exactly what i wanted the masque to do...clean my skin out!
What I don't like about it: It's definitely not an inexpensive product, but I do feel you get your money's worth. I also wish more of the ingredients were actually natural, but fortunately they are not detrimental to my health. Both of these are really more my personal preferences. The only real disadvantage is that the product is only available online through a paid membership to the Melaleuca company.
I am so happy with my purchase! After only one use, my skin is already reaping the benefits of Nicole Miller Refine Purifying Mud Masque!
