I had a chance to catch Nickelback at Riverbend in Cincinnati for their Dark Horse Tour this week. Opening bands were Saving Abel, Papa Roach, and Hinder. Nickelback knows how to put on a show, that's for sure. The line up included songs from the Dark Horse CD (Somethin' in Your Mouth, Gotta Be Somebody, S.E.X., If Today was Your Last Day, Burn it to the Ground) as well as other well known hits from previous CDs (Photograph, Animals, Savin' Me, Far Away, If Everyone Cared, Rockstar, Hollywood, This is How You Remind Me, etc.). Nickelback also teamed up with Hinder to do a great cover of AC/DC's Highway to Hell that rocked the house out. They showed their versatility by doing a bit of Garth Brooks' Friends in Low Places. The show was interspersed with lots of chatter, water cannons, t-shirt cannons firing into the audience, and beer cups being tossed into the audience from the stage while the band swilled Jack Daniels and tequila. Great big screen backdrop and graphics running behind and the pyrotechnics were the best I've seen in years--lots of them! Absolutely, truly great concert!
