Niagra Falls Canada —

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is much the better vantage point compared with the American vista. Vistors can go to the center and see the falls up close - and wet. We can see it at the base as well as at the crest, and travel a lovely road in both directions along the river, upstream and downstream. The view of the falls is simply much grander.

Much of the surrounding area on the Canadian side devotes itself to colonial era history. There is a British fort and attached colonial era town, much like Williamsburg in Virginia. To be sure, the French colonial fortress of Niagara is on the American side, and well worth seeing. The Canadian side, though, offers more to see and is overall better kept and pleasing to the eye.

Another, newer attraction on the Canadian side is the dinner theatre Oh Canada! It celebrates the breadth of Canadian history and culture from Indians and Mounties to French Quebec and offers fun, humorous acting and song. The food is pretty good, too, and the actors/servers are enjoyable to converse with up close.

Enjoy
