Every so often, a company you can trust pitches you a new idea but you fumble the catch and that great new product just lies there at your feet unable to perform.  For the last two months I have been moving around a bottle of Newman's Own "Lighten Up" Raspberry & Walnut Dressing which I had bought during a terrific Peapod promotion.  Actually possessing this great new product was just half the battle, now I had to figure out what to DO with it.  The answer became obvious as the great summer fruits of the season began to tumble in.  Any kind of fruit salad works beautifully with this "Lighten Up" variety.  Once I tasted how good it was, I found that it could make almost anything taste better.

STATS:

Two tablespoons are considered to be a single serving which contains 70 calories with 45 calories from fat.  There are five grams total fat, half a gram saturated fat, zero cholesterol, 120 mg. sodium, seven grams total carbs, zero each dietary fiber and protein, and five grams sugars.  (Zero reads for vitamins and minerals.)

TASTE TIP:

Newman's Own "Lighten Up" Raspberry & Walnut Dressing enhances the flavors of a lot of delicious dishes (visit Newmansown.com for more ideas) but of course, it soars when used as a component of fruit salad.  Here's an idea:  place a crisp piece of Romaine lettuce on each of two salad plates.  Then top with fresh Bartlett pear halves sprinkled with shavings of Gorgonzola or other bleu cheese, and coarsely chopped pecans splashed with a little "Lighten Up" Raspberry & Walnut Dressing

LOL. You got that right. I go looking for food, and it is gone, gone, gone. I should buy a few that they will not touch and enjoy them.

Oh yah, it is so good and I didn't expect much, to be perfectly frank. I had some over watermelon chunks last night and it was just out of this world. How are you doing? Thanks for sharing that great review about Lisa's website. It turned out I had been keying onto the wrong thing and the site you gave worked a lot better. Free stuff is always interesting! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful evening and maybe spending some time in that lovely garden of yours. I love your reviews, incidentally.

Well, to me that's the sign of a great dressing -- a little goes a long way. You should have seen me last night -- I splurged and bought a whole "convenience cut" dish of fresh watermelon from the 7/11 and ate the WHOLE THING with just a little of the Raspberry dressing. It was really good and now it turns out watermelon is really a good thing to eat. (Although maybe I won't splurge every night like that!) I bet even your little dog would like watermelon!

Yum...just the description sounds good enough to make me want to try it. I'd probably eat more fruit if I had a salad topped off with this. :)

I like this too. It's still high in fat for me but I only use a little and it has great flavor.

Yum. I'll bet I'd love this. The boys . . . they always want regular old Italian or Ranch.
