My vehicle refused to startup. After realizing the ignition key I possessed was not a coded key and thinking this may have been the problem, a call was made to solicit the services of a mobile locksmith. Several attempts by the locksmith were also unsuccessful. He then suggested the possibility of a theft deterrent alarm system being the cause of the locked ignition. Considering the fact that my purchase of this used vehicle was less than three weeks old, I was unfamilar with this circumstance. The locksmith suggested and referred Newburgh Auto Sound & Accessories. A call was made, the problem explained and the owner of the business upon full understanding of the situation verbally quoted an estimated price for services and repairs. On the next day November 16, my car was towed to Newburgh Auto Sound. After allowing the suggested number of days for service, we called for the vehicle only to be told, more time was needed. They were also having a problem getting the ignition to startup. I was forced to wait another two weeks because calls to Newburgh Auto were now being unanswered. I became suspicious and decided to visit the shop in person whereas I discovered my car was not on the premise at all. The person in charge that day was also unable to answer any questions as to the whereabouts of my car. I left with the understanding that I intended to return within a few hours later that day, and if I did not receive precise information about my car, then legal actions would be taken. Upon my return, the owner of the business appeared. He declared the inability of his business to get the vehicle started and that he was forced to send the car to the local dealership. He failed to call me for my permission to do so. In my presence, he made a call to that dealership only to be told they needed a few more days to complete their services because of parts that were ordered. I was then given the name of that contact person and address. I rode to that location for verification. After waiting another week and a few more calls to the dealership for answers, I was able to pick up the car on December 17, at a cost of $1481.12, of which approximately $800.00 was for services. I am extremely upset at the unreliable services of Newburgh Auto Sound in misrepresenting their ability to perform quoted services and the fact that my vehicle was sent by Newburgh Auto to the dealership for repairs without my permission. I should have been informed of this by Newburgh Auto, before the transfer to the dealership. The contact person at Newburgh Auto failed to keep iin touch and repeatedly refused to accept or return phone calls to the person handling my vehicle in my favor. I was forced to pay expenses to the dealership in order to receive my car from their possession. I was never informed initially by Newburgh Auto or the dealership of the potential cost of repairs or given the opportunity to accept or deny the services of the dealership. Because of the misrepresentation and unreliable services of Newburgh Auto Sound & Accessories I was forced to be without my vehicle for over four weeks and compelled to pay an extremely high price to a dealership for services that I never authorized or was given the opportunity to accept or deny, in order to get back my car.
