Let me start by saying that we have watched every Olsen Twin video and TV show numerous times. Why? My set of identical twin girls are less than a year in difference from the Olsen twins and they ended up looking very similar. So my girls were pretty much glued to the TV screen anytime Full House came on and when they started making movies, it was a must have collection. New York Minute is the latested movie the twins have starred in, being released back in 2004. It was nominated for the Razzie Award in 2005 for Worst actresses and Worst Screen Couple and for Teen Choice Award in 2004 for Choice Movie Blush and Choice Moview Liar (Eugene Levy).

New York Minute--Summary

New York Minute
is about a set of identical twins that are total opposites. Jane Ryan (Ashley Olsen) is a compulsive type who has her entire life penned in her daily planner. She has everything she needs to do,has done and plalns to do posted inside. Her planner is her life and when it goes missing she has lost her notes for a speech she is to give in New York City. On the same day, her twin sister, Roxy Ryan (Mary Kate Olsen) skips school to go to a band audition and they end up making the trip together. As things start to go wrong, the two decide to spin the day together since they are better off together than alone in the big city.

They end up being pursued and neither one of them make their engaement as planned. Instead, they find themselves on the run.

Eugene Levy plays the part of Max Lomax, the probation officer who is after Roxy for skipping school. He really livens the movie up and puts in some good laughs.

My Viewpoints

This movie is quite different from all the cheesy Olsen Twin videos they made while growing up. New York Minute has an actual plot and is a real movie unlike most of their previous videos.

While this one is billed as a comedy/action/adventure, I can say that the comedy is certainly mild. There are several cute parts and I am a bit biased because I can see my girl's personalities there in a few places. New York Minute has a pretty good flow of action after the first 15 minutes of the movie. The plot is fairly simple and you pretty much know what is going to happen but the journey is fairly interesting.

I wouldn't rate this movie as one of the best movies I've ever seen but it is not the worst movie either. It was fun seeing how the Olsen twins are now all grown up and to see that they have improved in their acting abilities. Having Eugene Levy in the movie is a huge plus. He is always a favorite to watch and pull in the laughs.  And if you have seen the other videos as the Olsen twins were growing up, you will have to admit that this one is more entertaining for adults.

New York Minute is a good movie for the summer when re-runs or on or for a lazy rainy day.  I'll go with a little better than average rating...I'm biased...smile!

Footnote:  I've attached a photo of the Olsen twins when younger and also a picture of my twins when younger.  They were featured in our local newspaper for famous lookalikes!

With all the deals they have going, makeup lines, clothing lines, endorsements, they don't really have to worry about working. I'll trade shoes...or bank accounts any day!

Good review. Like the way you admit you're "biased." All reviewers are, even if they don't say so outright. Love your honesty!

Like Mark said, I thought they were history. ;>

Uuuuf. I thought the Olsen twins went the way of satin disco suits. Guess it was --- unfortunately --- only in my dreams.
