NYU takes place in the center of it all - New York City. That gives you a lot of opportunities that you won't have at other schools, such as access to great speakers, conferences and events. In part because of this, NYU has a great reputation that has noticeably improved over the last several years. However, be prepared to pay for these opportunities as NYU certainly is not cheap. Moreover, student support services, particularly IT is notably lacking and you might be frustrated by how "un-automated" seemingly routine functions are. If you're planning on going into a specialized field that NYU has a strong reputation in, definitely put this school on your short list, but if you're not entirely sure what you want do yet, or if it's not a program in which NYU really excels, save your money and go to a public school.
