New York State Museum - Albany, NY —

The New York State Museum in Albany Ny hold a wealth of history.  There is something for everyone from the serious to the silly.  You will find Birds, Bones and Plenty of History.  Be sure to check out the 100 year old carosaul on the top floor.  While you are there stop and admire the view of Albany it is amazing.  You can wander through a Native American Long House, stand on a subway car, watch Sesame Street in many languages.  Other exhibits include dinosaur bones, animals of the Adirondacks, gems and rocks or New York State and fire engines.  The Museum also houses an emotional 911 exhibit. Pieces of debris are on display and a video taping of an eye witness account of the event are riviting.   If you are traveling with children (even if you're not) check out the Discovery area.  Allow plenty of time to explore this area.  While it is small it houses many fun and interactive displays.  You can touch rocks and fossils or sit in the back area and read books and rest.  Best of all admission is free!  If you are near Albany be sure to put this on your must visit list.
