ok, nothing special

I just love saving money, so I was enticed to open up my New York and Company Credit Card to get instant savings on a clothing purchase I was doing. I had a lot of back to work clothes, so I was going to save a nice amount, so I went ahead and applied. This credit card has pretty much the standard features as the other typical store cards do. You get a discount when you first open the account and use it, and then on our birthday you get a special disount (20%) off purchase as well. If you use the card throughout the year, and spend a certain amount of money (I think it was a few hundred bucks) then you got back a $10 reward coupon to use at a future time. Periodically you also are sent coupons to use while shopping. If you shop at New York and Company a lot, it would probably add up in savings, but I only periodically stop there when I am in the mall, so its not a huge incentive for me to continue using the card. Customer Service I have never had a reason to call customer service, but they have always been accurate with billing and statements. You can do things online, which I think is the easiest way to fix problems and maintain your account. Available Rates There is no annual fee, but the rates are the standard outrageous credit card rates.

Really Good Rewards

4

I love New York & Company so I had to get their credit card. I always pay off my balance any moth that I shop there so I never have to pay interest since their interest rate can be very steep - close to 19%! I got the card mostly for the rewards and since it has no annual fee there is really no downside. It has awesome rewards that I just love! At the base level you get $10 for every $200 you spend in their stores or on the website. And, unlike many stores, you can combine your rewards with coupons, like your annual 20% off birthday coupon! I get some amazing deals that way! I also love that they offer free shipping on their website when you use your card. Since there are very few of their brick and mortar stores near me I tend to shop on their website more and the free shipping is a nice perk. Account maintenance is easy. You can pay your bill and access your account online. Or you can pay your bill in the store while you're shopping. If you shop at New York & Company often their rewards card is a must have and I definitely recommend it!

Good Card

This card is nothing more than 'black gold'. I have been very happy with this card ever since I have had it. I especially like the certain percentages off when using this card for purchases. Another perk is being invited to private sales that are only available to card holders. If you spend a certain amount in a certain time frame you get a certificate worth a certain amount off of merchandise. Customer Service They have great customer service people, who really seem to enjoy what they do daily. They are very attentive and eager to make things right for their customers. if you every have an issue they are above average in terms of wanting to fix things to your satisfaction. Money does not appear to be their bottom line. Available Rates They have pretty standard rates for this card. They are not the best, but not the worst either. It can get pretty expensive depending on your credit limit and how much you have spent already, that will determine your rate.

Not worth the trouble.

Don't get this card unless you buy everything in the store all the time. This is a small store with a relatively small selection, and you probably won't use it enough to be worth the trouble of dealing with the card. You do get a decent discount when you first open the card, and you get some coupons usually every month, but those aren't all that great. Depending on how much of a discount you get the first time, it's really not worth the trouble. Customer Service The customer service is fine. One of the good things about a store card is that you can buy online and return to the store if needed. Most stores have free shipping if you buy enough, so you won't be out any money if you do need to return an item. The coupons are nice, but you usually have to spend a certain amount before you can use them. Available Rates The rates on all these types of store cards are astronomically high. If you plan on carrying a debt, do it on a "regular" credit card, not a store card. You will save a ton of money in interest.

Not worth the interest

I got talked in to signing up for this card one day in the store. The person helping me told me about the great discount I was going to get if I signed up for the card. While I did save a lot of money on my purchase that day, I ended up losing money in the long run on interest. This card has a really high interest rate. It does have a lot of great perks. You get special deals and discounts in store if you are a card holder. However, none of that is worth it if you do not pay the card off completely each month. The interest rate on this card is so high that you end up paying almost double for your clothes. It definitely is not worth it unless you can have extreme self control with it. I would not recommend opening one of these cards unless you really want the rewards. I did not think it was a great credit card and ended up closing mine. Customer Service I never had a problem with customer service while I had this card. Available Rates Interest is really high on this card.

It's just not worth applying for.

I love shopping at New York & Company because they have very nice clothing for women and great quality as well. I was so excited to apply for a New York & Company - Credit Card, and couldn't believe that I was accepted. At the time I was approved for it, I received a 15% off discount, which was great because I had a large purchase that day of over $100. After that, it took quit a long time for my first bill to come, and when it did, I was looking over all the terms and conditions, and read about the interest rate. Wow I have never seen such high interest rates on a store credit card. I just could not believe that I signed up for this and made sure to pay off the amount due at once so I wouldn't be stuck paying off such high interest rates. Now the interest rates weren't the only problem I had. I needed to call costumer service once and let me tell you, it was the worst experience of my life. I wanted to add another card under my account for my mother but I had to talk to 3 representatives before I was helped. After adding her name to my account, it took about a month for her card to come in the mail. I have had it for many years now but cannot remember the last time I used it. NY&C does not send out good coupons to be used with the card like other clothing stores do so I just have no motivations to use it.

Worthwhile if you shop at New York & Company

4

One of the main reasons I get credit cards for stores is because they offer a discount when you initially sign up for the credit card. I typically wait until I have a large purchase to sign up for the credit card so I get the best discount. That's exactly what I did when I initially got my New York & Company Credit Card. The credit card is convenient to have if you shop at New York & Company frequently. There are discount days during the month, and you get rewards points based on how much you purchase in the previous month. Although the interest rate is pretty high for this credit card, I don't typically have problems with that because I pay my credit card off each month. If you are someone who does not think you can pay the credit card each month, you might want to really consider if you should get it. Customer Service I never had to deal with customer service, but I never had any problems with billing statements. Available Rates The interest rates for this card are a little high.

NY&Co. charges only, but great rewards.

One of the things I'm disappointed most about the New York and Company credit card is that... well... it's not an actual credit card. You can only use it within the store! It's also probably my credit card with the lowest credit limit because of that. Regardless, between the benefits of the card and the email listserv, I feel like I'm getting New York and Company rewards, discounts, savings, etc. ALL THE TIME. There is always a coupon or discount to be had with this place, and generally a sale going on at the same time of whatever NY&C store you walk into. It's mostly a bargain. Things to watch out for would be that a) most coupons sent out on the listserv can't be doubled up with one of the sales that is ALWAYS going on (although you definitely can use your rewards ny&c cash with the sale) and b) they will, at least accidentally, put you under the impression that you might have received more rewards than you have. Evidently, months ago they switched over to not only sending rewards via paper statement but also a duplicate via email. I redeemed a paper statement reward and was highly disappointed when I went to redeem the email reward and found out they were simply sending out duplicates via email because people were throwing out the paper statements not realizing the rewards were attached to it. Read the fine print, so to speak. I've mostly paid all their bills in full, on time, so I haven't had much experience with their interest rates until recently - and yes, they are a little bit high.

High interest rate, but great clothes

Even though I feel New York and Company Interest rate us way to high it's still the only store card I continue to use. Why well many reasons one it's convenient. On Tuesday you get special discounts for using the card, they keep track of how much you spend a month and you are rewarded the next month for all you purchases. Now I do pay my credit card in full each month because I refuse to pay them the high interest rate but its worth the deals to keep the card.

Just don't do it, it's not worth ruining your credit score!

Don't do it girls, it's just 10% off and could ruin your credit.  When I received a call from New York and Company's clothing store saying that my bill was 2 months behind I was astounded.  They proceeded to tell me that I had been turned over to a collection agency.  I have stellar credit so this was very upsetting to me.  They stated they had signed me up for e-billing and that I should have gotten them.  I know for a fact that I did not sign up for e-billing and I told the girl that I did not and that I would like a paper statement sent to my house.  She did not seem to care.  The short of the story was I had to pay $27 dollars more than my merchandise for late fee's and fee's for paying my bill on the phone (which they did not tell me about).  I will cancel this card as soon as my next "bill" comes with zero balance.
