New Moon (The Twilight Saga Book 2)

by Stephenie Meyer

This was a really amazing follow up to the first book, Twilight. I enjoyed it as thoroughly as the first book, and was delighted with the addition of Werewolves, Indian lore and the developing storyline with Jacob and his friendship with Bella.

Again, this book would appeal to all ages, from the teen to the elderly. It has no major violence, no swearing, and no sex scenes that would offend.

I have heard that some feel that Bella is too needy in this novel and leads Jacob along to believe there might be more then a friendship developing. I feel that as a teen who has just lost the love of her life, or so she believes, that the friendship with Jacob would be a normal reaction for any girl at that age. I believe that Bella is confused about her relationship with Jacob, as most teen girls would be.

This story starts with the recovery of Bella after the attack on her by the rogue vampire, James. As she is recovering Edward plans a birthday party for her that ends in disaster. Edward pulls away after this horrible event and leaves Bella, to protect her, or so he thinks.

In her anguish Bella turns to Jacob, her friend who lives on the local Indian reservation. They become fast friends, and he helps her through her depression, however he longs for more and is not easily dissuaded. She becomes a friend to the tribe and realizes what is going on within the group, when Jake begins to grow at an alarming rate, as well as changing, right before her eyes.

This book follows Bella through her break up with Edward, to her relationship with Jake, to her life threatening adventures where she swears she hears Edwards voice warning her of the danger she is putting herself into. Then on to her near death, and her new problem with Victoria, James mate. And finally to her reunion with Edward.

I have now moved on to the next two books, Eclipse (book 3) and Breaking Dawn, the final book in the series. I can promise that these novels are just as good as the rest and I will write reviews for these as well.

I give this book a big thumbs up and would recommend it to anyone who likes to read vampire novels.

I read New Moon in 2 days. I didn't think it was as good as Twilight but it was good all the same. Twilight had me on the edge of my seat. New Moon had me more frustrated because I, like Bella, wanted Edward to return.

I haven't found a good deal on Eclipse at Amazon yet so I am going to see if I can get it in a store nearby. Right now they are carrying a lot of Twilight, because of the movie and Breaking Dawn because it's the latest release. It has been real difficult to find New Moon and Eclipse ;+(

This sounds great. I very rarely get a chance to read anymore but Twilight and this one have me thinking I just might make some "me" time to read them.
