a foodie, appreciates good food, always looking for a great cookbook, a lover of BBQ and Beer, a fan of slow cookers, dessert eater, steak lover, seafood lover
Watch out Rachel Ray, Better Homes and Gardens is still here and better than ever. This book really does have everything in it. This book has always been known for it's great variety of food categories with delicious recipes. — Let's go over what most of the books all have. The first few sections I call the Helpful Sections because they have lots of good general cooking information. There's the equivalent page that shows size/amount of whole food and how much it equals to when cut. For example - one pound of blueberries equals three…

I love to cook, especially during the Christmas holidays. My favorite is cookies. I have lots of cookbooks that pertain to that. What I do is read them all, just like a library book, then I start from scratch, with thoughts of sugar plums dancing in my head. I will combine different ingredients from an assortment of receipes, then I add a cup of Amish yeast bread dough which I have modified. I come up with some wonderful tasting cookies that always stay soft for the holidays. My friends and relatives love to receive them as Christmas gifts. — My…

married, cooking beginner, a woman
This is the tried and true cook book that has been around for decades. Chances are your mother had this very cook book in her kitchen. I have fond memories of the red plaid cover and many of the pages had come loose from the bindings or had food stains on them. — — I was so excited to add this book to my collection when I married and got my own house. If you only have one cook book, this should be it. It has all those childhood recipes you remember as well as many helpful tips to teach you how to cook. — — It has a measuring conversion chart, a microwave…

married, a busy person, not rich, a woman
This is the one cookbook I believe no home should be without. In fact, it's the only cookbook I've found that I thought was worth buying. It's easy to use, and you can actually learn to cook by reading it! I find it easy to make substitutions in their recipes, since they offer suggestions (such as substituting milk for buttermilk in pancakes, oatmeal for flour in muffins, etc.) that can help make certain foods healthier or better tasting. Easy to follow recipes, and so many classic dishes that I remember from my childhood (this is the same cookbook my mother cooked…

This cookbook has so many options and choices inside. There is a variety of quick meals and really great tips for substitutions and measurements. It is really great because they separate it into appetizer, soup, entree etc sections which are really helpful when you don't want to spend forever looking up what you want to cook. I also love the pink color and the fact that some of the proceeds are donated to breast cancer research. Way to go betty…
