I've used Neurontin for 6 years now ever since I had a side effect from surgery that caused my already bulging discs in my back to get worse. I'd had alternating numbness in my right foot for years when I sat at a certain angle or crossed my legs or even on the treadmill walking hard. Well after this out-patient surgery which lasted about 3 hours, I have had numbness, tingling, prickling in my right foot and sometimes my left foot. I also have burning in my right leg all down the outside calf. The doctor thinks it may have been the angle I was placed at during surgery that made it worse. I think that is part of it but also they put compression boots on both legs which squeeze your legs like a blood pressure cuff. I don't think that helped things any. Wasn't worth pursuing a legal thing but I sure wouldn't recommend those compression boots to anyone. My back hadn't been in good shape for a while but got worse and the symptoms way worsened. I still have the symptoms but with Neurontin I can manage the symptoms better. I take 800 mg 4xday every day. I now have my husband on it for his neck disc pain and he likes it too so on we go.
