With it's sleek, intervative look, you can tell that the **Netgear WGR614 v9 **is new to the technological world. Yet, to prove itself worthy, it needs to be the best router out in the marketing world. To say the least, it has surpassed all expectations of what a router should be. The **Netgear WGR614 v9 **is tech savy, giving everyday internet users a fast way to connect to the internet, wheather you have a DSL or Wireless connection. It is up-to-date with todays top speeds, giving fast loadups to your internet webpages, easy to program feature and unlike older models is light-weight. Netgear WGR614 v9 is great for non-techies!

The Netgear WGR614 v9 wireless router was recommended to me by my highly technically capable son who lives halfway across the country from me and is therefore usually not physically available when I need tech support. He is very good about helping me through phone calls or e-mail. My internet connection is through my phone company. When a major storm moved through in the fall of 2010, lightning zapped my phone, the phone company's modem and my old router. I am not even a marginal techie but he assured me that I could connect this router and it would serve my needs. Set up was easy, even for me, and it works well. There have been a few times when several people spread throughout the house have all been using the wireless signal on different computers or game systems and I have never experienced disconnects or been required to reset the router. I am glad my son recommended it to me and I recommend it to anyone else who needs a wireless router.

Stylish and powerful

Simple software and hardware that do the work. Import your DSL/Cable configurations and you are ready to browse internet. Heavy downloading may require to open some ports, but this is well documented in web an it is easy to do. WPA2-PSK ensures you will have the greatest security available; filter by MAC adresses provides you additional restrictions to whom may access your network. With an extra internal antenna, you have a signal strenght far better than similar competitors. Also, a few models have stands to keep it in a vertical position if you want. Well-finished, clean looking (MAC like?), green and ambar leds with symbols, and compact format have to be quoted too. Its design provides good air circulation resulting in fair temperature that keeps the device running smoothly all the time. Good signal strentch, great coverage area, good compatibility with other devices. Simplifying: it delivers what it promises. The best choice from 54Mbps wireless routers.

Excellent Router

The Netgear WGR614 v9 wireless router has been one of the best purchases i've ever made. It has room for up to four etherenet enabled devices along with of course wifi. I currently have two computers and a video game console hooked up to it. In the three years i've had the router it has dropped the connection maybe once. I like that it came with a stant to have it vertically to save space. It has a good range that reaches all the way to my backyard. I like how it can be set up with different levels of security up to WPA2 so I know how secure I need my network to be. Even when using many internet enabled devices at once through the router the thing just keeps chugging along without a hiccup. It has been very durable and reliable. It came up along with other routers when i set up the wifi on my zune hd with a strong signal. All you need to do to pair a wireless device is enter the password you create on said wireless device. This router has been extremely reliable device that has withstood daily usage by multiple devices.

Netgear WGR614 is good router for small home networks.

Netgear WGR614 is a good, cheap router for a small home network. It is easy to set up, if you just want to share internet between home computers then it is a cinch.Easy to password-protect your WiFi. WEP encryption, WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK.Has four Ethernet/LAN ports in case you don't want to Internet via WiFi or can't share Internet via WiFi due to lack of WiFi adapters.Decent WiFi range, I can receive the signal from different floors of my home and on the porch and backyard of my home. The cons are that periodically the router would require restarting and there is limit to the port forwarding services you can input. Normally, this wouldn't be much of a problem for small home networks but if you have a room-mate or several room-mates who are tech savvy it will be problem since it will require deleting and re/adding of port forwarding services. Sometimes it will require restarting of modem to get these port forwarding services working properly.

NetGear WGR614 v6 is a great router for basic internet uses.

I've owned my NetGear WGR614 v6 wireless router for the past 5 years.  I've used it wirelessly for my laptop and wii and wired for the desktop computer and PS3.  This past year my husband decided to upgrade our wireless router to a D-Link to obtain the faster speeds of our internet for his online gaming.  I bought this router because it was inexpensive, user friendly and it's the similar to the one I used with my old roommate for two years and I probably would still be using it if I was still single...lol.  Even though we no longer use it, we are keeping it for backup.  I've had to call up customer service when I first purchased it to make sure I was creating a secure wireless network properly and the customer rep I spoke to was very helpful and easy to understand.   - 54 Mbps - 1.1 x 6.89 x 4.68 in. - 0.57 lbs - Wi-Fi Protected AccessTM (WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK) and WEP - 1 year warranty - LAN: 4 ports 10/100 Mbps (auto-sensing) Ethernet, RJ-45 - Internet/WAN: 10/100 Mbps (auto-sensing) Ethernet, RJ-45

If the router is not defective they are simple to install.

The Netgear WRG614 v9 router is one of the best routers.  I haven't had any problems with it since I have installed it.  We have a wireless laptop for my daughter who does online schooling and she hasn't had any problems either.  She can be in the other side of the house and not have any difficulties.  It show a strong signal.  The only problem I had was when I first bought the router something was wrong with that particular router, because I was unable to install it.  It kept asking for the pin or something like that and as a person that hadn't ever installed a router before in my life if was very frustrating for me for two days.  I had looked all over on the web etc. for information  or help to get the router installed and I did everything possible. Finally I took that particular router back to the store and decided it wasn't me, it was a defective router.  I exchanged it and I had no problem with that one. I was able to get it installed within a matter of 15 minutes or less.  This is after I had spent two days trying to install the other one.  But that didn't make me change routers.  I like this one.  Thanks.

The Netgear WGR614v9 G Wireless Router is a good router.

My old DSL router wouldn't work for an internet connection after I switched to cable, so I decided to look for a cable router to attach to my new cable modem. I looked on the web and found this Netgear router. Unfamiliar with Netgear, I decided to try it out. It's white color stands our a little but it's easy to fit on a desk  due to it's flexible adjustment properties. It can either be put on a desk vertically or horizontally. I personally like the vertical layout since it saves space on a small and cramped desk. It's antenna can also be adjusted horizontally and vertically with it. The display is easily visible since it is made up of  a series of lights that change color depending on the status of the router. I believe this router has a good range for wireless transmission but it oddly looses some signal strength when I switch floors of my house and use my laptop. For example, upstairs, where it's located, the signal is Excellent, but downstairs, the signal isn't as good. Also, it has some issues connecting to the modem using it's software. I don't know if it is because the modem is really bad, or because the router can't detect the modem well. Overall, it's still a good buy, but if there's trouble, you'll need to be a little tech savvy.

Have to reboot often!

This router is pretty annoying. I currently have two computers connected to it, a desktop and a laptop, and oftentimes I have trouble trying to connect. My computer will be connected to the network, but for some reason will have, "no internet access," which doesn't really make any sense. So, I will have to walk all the way over to my router, (which is on the other side of the house, which isn't *that* far away. I'm just lazy...) and check to see if the internet light is orange. If the light is orange, that means that for some reason, even the router cannot connect to the internet. So, I have to make this light green.  The only way to accomplish this is to umplug the router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Sometimes this will make it connect. It's possible that I would have to do this multiple times. The signal strength isn't to good, either. On my computer there is a little signal strength meter showing five bars. Two of those five bars are filled, which is classified as "Fair" signal strength. When buying a router, this should definitely not be your first choice.
