Netflix is the best thing since sliced bread. Now that I have it I can not see how I lived without it!
Netflix is an online movie store. You can rent movies/blu ray discs or you can watch movies instantly to your TV or computer. You choose a play that is right for you and each month you are charged that amount. There is a total of 5 different plans you can choose from:
Limited:
$4.99- rent 2 movies a month (one at a time) you can watch 2 hours on your computer but not your TV, doesn't include Starz Play
Unlimited:
$8.99- unlimited dvds (one at a time) watch unlimited hours on your computer or TV, includes Starz Play
$13.99- unlimited dvds (two at a time) watch unlimited hours on your computer or TV, includes Starz Play
$16.99- unlimited dvds (three at a time) watch unlimited hours on your computer or TV, includes Starz Play
$23.99- unlimited dvds (four at a time) watch unlimited hours on your computer or TV, includes Starz Play
Blu-ray discs are available for an additional fee for all plans
In order to receive a movie in the mail you must make a que. It's recommended that you put six movies in your que. You put them in order from one to six, one being the movie you want to see first. Each time a movie is sent to you they will send them in the order of your que. That is unless it's not available then they will send you the next movie in your que. You can add/remove movies and rearrange them any way and time you want.
Delivery is super fast. It usually takes around two days depending on where you live via USPS. We receive ours from Baton Rouge so it only takes a day. There is an unlimited amount you can choose from with this option. We have been with them for a couple months now and we haven't had any problems with discs or not getting our first in que.
In order to watch movies on your computer or TV you can browse a limited selection. In order to watch on your computer you simply press play on computer. If you want to watch the movie on your TV you must have a Netflix ready device. Here's the list of Netflix ready devices:
Roku Digital Video Player, XBOX 360, LG Network Blu-ray Players*, Samsung Network Blur-ray players*, LG HDTVs with NetCast Broadband*, TiVo HD DVR, LG Network Blu-ray home theater system*, or Samsung Blu-ray home theater systems*
* only certain models are Neflix ready
There are only certain movies that you can watch on your TV or computer. I've found that more of the newer releases are only available to receive in the mail. Nonetheless it is still nice to have in addition to the mail option. The only problem I've had is with watching instantly. My first complaint is there is no fast forward or rewind. There is only a bar to slide back and forth. So if you need to skip to a certain point you have to wait for it to download and buffer again. Quality is another issue. I have a HD screen on my computer yet the picture isn't great. It could be better but it's acceptable.
Starz Play is a collection of Starz's movies available online, including new releases. This is available with any of the unlimited plans. You can also access a live streaming of Starz for no additional cost.
When you select a movie it will tell you what other members have rated it and will predict what you will rate. Rating a movie will be able to give Netflix movies to suggest. It's sort of like Netflix gets to know you personally. The more movies you rate the better it gets to know you. You can also review movie. If you like to read ratings before you watch a movie this can be really helpful.
Probably the best thing of all is there is no return date. So you can keep the movies as little or as long as you want. No late fees!
Overall Netflix is great. There are lots of plans to choose from. In the end you save time and money. I would recommend it to anyone
