Netflix is a Movie rental service that  comes to your home by mail. The service has been very disappointing. In the short 3 months we have had the service, we have received one scratched DVD and one cracked one. They were both unable to be watched. I also find the selection to be poor and slow in new releases. Their response to complaints is quick, but does not add time or DVD's to the monthly charge. We have cancelled and will be happy to visit our local DVD rental store.

When the time gets closer for Netflix to receive their money for the month, it seems it takes them longer to get the movies out to you. Also, you can plan ahead and reserve new releases two months in advance in your queue and still not receive the new releases. Supposedly, the computer decides who gets the new releases. It's nice to receive movies in the mail, but not if your not getting the ones you want, when you want, especially at the discretion of a computer. Poor service.

I have been using Netflix for some time and have never had any bad disc, and when adding up money I save it is a nice amount. Plus I don't have to wait at the movie gallery for a movie and have to come back and check to see if I can get it. I can't afford to go to the movies now days so for us it is a deal and saves us money.

You should definately try out blockbuster online. They have a better selection, and if on a rare occasion you get an unplayable dvd, they will immediately send you either that same movie or the next movie on your list.

What a shame. My experience with Netflix has been 100% positive.

I love Netflix. Such a good savings for one that watches movies all the time. Never got a scratched or broken one.

I agree with Chris. I've received a couple of defective discs in 3 years, and they were replaced in no time. I think it just takes time to get used to their system.

Sounds frustrating to have received some defective discs in the mail. Could be the fault of the USPS however and the response to complaints was quick which is good to know.

I know that if you go to the website the second you discover you have a bad or damaged disc and click on a couple of boxes, they immediately send out a new dvd to you. Perhaps being a brand new customer you aren't familiar with the best quickest way to use everything they have. My experience with netflix over the past 5 years plus has been very very satisfying with very few problems. Sometimes the brand new hottest releases are out because everyone on the planet wants them at the same time of course... but their selection of thousands and thousands of DVDs many classics and foriegn movies that the Blockbusters never ever carry is second to none.

I rarely encounter anyone unhappy with netflix... I know some people don't rent enough moviews to make it make $$$ sense of course.
.
Good of you to share your experience.

I enjoyed Netflix, but we really didn't watch them fast enough to make it worth it. We cancelled also. Sorry about the scratched and cracked ones.
