This was a replacement for an earlier router. It worked fine for a month. Then it started losing the connection. I had no problems with the other router while using a laptop in another room but this was terribly disappointing. Performance Wouldn't work as advertised. Kept dropping the connection to the other computer. Durability I would expect a product to work longer than a motnh. I didn't buy this as refurbished. It was advertised as a new product but it worked like somethng that someone else had worn out. Setup & Ease of Use Setup was farly easy. And use would have been fine had it stayed connected. Service & Support Customer service was useless. I called them as soon as it failed to work correctly. The persons I spoke with had me go through several steps and told me it was repaired but it was not. I called at least 4 times trying to get it to work and each time they said it would work and if not to call them back. The last person was very rude and I never did get any help. I had to order a new router.

The router has 4 additional ethernet ports for manually connecting PCs and laptops via their ethernet ports if need be. This is ideal for older computers that do not have wireless adapters installed. The CD will walk you through the basics of setting up your computer(s) to the router. If your computer does not have a CD ROM drive, the written guide will show you how to setup manually. I would recommend this wireless router.

I got a Kindle for Christmas, but my old NetGear Router was a bit too old to "communicate" with my Kindle. This one worked. I did need to use tech support from my internet service provider to install in correctly, but once it was installed, I have had zero problems with it. My old one would require periodic rebooting, but since December (3 months ago), I haven't had to reboot this router once. It was fairly easy to install, but keep in mind I am a middle level user of electronics. My Grandma may not be able to install such a thing, but anyone in their 20s or 30s should be fine. It has a slim profile and sits under my desk with minimal space needs. I placed it in the center of my house and it reaches my laptop and Kindle even outside!

After purchasing this product, it was quite easy to install on the modem. There are 5 computers now, but 6 originally. Adding each one was simple and concise, following the setup instructions a snap. Using a secure line for all the computers on this router took no brain power to try and interpret. The company has been ready to act on the warranty without hesitation. I am not a techie type of guy and with both online chat and real people that answered the phone, and talked me through whatever question I asked. We have never had any trouble with this router in almost 2 years of use. 4 of the 5 computers are upstairs on the second floor and none of them have difficulty receiving the signal. The range is more than sufficiant. I would recomend this product and this company to anyone. The price was resonable and the quality has been great. The support people were always curtious to me. There was one time I had to be transfered to a second person when I couldn't understand the pronunciation of the person helping me.

Usually you look for three things when you go to purchase a wireless router. Strength, distance, and price. Well first off lets start with the strenth. I purchased this model, and actually I ended up returning it to the store, because the strength of this wasn't what I personally needed. It wouldn't reach 100 ft. to the extra house we have out back. Second, again, is the distance. Like I said, the other apartment out back of our house is about 100 ft. a little less, and this just wasn't putting out a strong siginal. The price wasn't bad, but now i can see why. You get what you pay for in this case I guess. As far as reccomending this product to anyone else I guess I would have to say it all depends on your personal needs. If you need something strong that will reach a great distance, then this probrablly isn't the product for you. On the other hand, if you just want something for a small home or apartment then this might do the trick.

If you don't have a CD drive there is a booklet with pictures that helps you set it up without a CD drive. There is also another booklet that lists the steps and a place in the booklet to store your Wireless Network Name and Wireless Security Passphrase. It's really very easy to set up! You can use your password to keep others from picking up your signal and using your internet connection. If your trying to conserve energy it also features a Broadband usage metor to monitor traffic volume. A Power and WiFi on/off button, which conserves energy usage. You can do anything with this Netgear Wireless Router...surf the Web, Streamline music, play on-line games, and even make Internet phone calls.

It supports Windows 7 and has an easy 6 step set up which also comes with a CD to help you set up a secure wireless network. **This NetGear WNR1000 Wireless Router is a piece of junk. I am the manager of Hotel in Colorado, and we bought this as a service to our clientel. It shuts down all of the time, and has really poor service. It is constantly fluctuating its signal and is nothing but a pain. I had a CenturyTel guy come and look at it one day, and it had just quit. It would no longer work. It wouldn't connect to the internet and we had a lot of guests at that time too. The CenturyTel guy came, and said it wasn't working. He said he would have to replace it. I assumed it would be another router that was of better quality. I was wrong. He gave me the same exact router that just broke. Not three weeks later, it broke again! Needless to say, we are going to go a different way. I was very disappointed witht the quality of this router. I use it in my apartment and the guests use it as well. If I can't count on it, I could potentially lose money.**

I bought a brand new PC and made the switch to a cable internet provider at the same time. I had the wireless router/modem from the phone company but it wasn't going to be compatible with my new PC. I hate laptops, but both my daughters have laptops and my youngest has a netbook provided by the high school (Maine schools do that) so it is a necessity that we have wireless in our home. The tech at the electronics store reccomended NetGearWireless Router WNR1000. He asked me a few questions about the size of my home and reccommended this particular router that would suit our needs. I was a little nervous about setting up by myself. The tech assured me that it was very easy and told me to follow the instructions on the cd that was enclosed with the NetGear router...He made a few specific remarks about not doing anything before I loaded the cd. I am pretty uptight when it comes to directions so I followed the instructions enclosed to the letter( I ignored what the tech at the store told me)... They were not complicated at all and I had it set up and everyone was connected to the internet in less than 10 minutes...I am not computer savvy but I was able to do this easily.

I have used several routers in the past, but by far this one has ranked the best in performance. I recently switched to this router from the 2wire but unlike with the 2wire, I never lose my connection. The 2wire was constantly offline. I am not sure if the poor connection was caused by the service provider or the actual router, but that experience did not give me a very high opinion of the 2wire router (I had 2 in a 6 month period due to conncetion issues). The NetGear router is very reliable and setup was a breeze!
