Nestle Good Start Supreme Natural Cultures Review Summary

When you think of baby formula, usually the three leaders come to mind: Enfamil, Similac and Nestle Good Start. Although it is a pricier, Nestle's Good Start Supreme with Natural Cultures milk based formula is noted to be perhaps “the closest thing possible to breast milk on the market today.” The Good Start Natural Cultures infant formula contains not only comfort proteins well known to the Nestle name (100% whey protein that digests easier), but high levels of DHA and ARA (for brain and eye development) and Bifidus B which claims to increase baby’s immune system and antioxidants. What does all this mean in parent terms? Viewpoints members state the “proteins do seem to break down easier” and that baby is “no longer constipated,” "spits up MUCH less” and that the Nestle Good Start “doesn’t upset his stomach” like other formulas. This also means a stronger immune system and less doctor visits. Due to the health benefits to baby, the extra cost is definitely worth it to parents who are willing to pay for quality.

With all the different formula options available to new and experienced parents, and all try or use one specific brand, how do parents know which formula is the right one for their child.  With all this uncertainty, there is one thing parents can be certain of, there are three leaders in the formula race:  Similac, Enfamil, and Nestles Good Start.

Nestles Good Start Supreme with Natural Cultures is a milk based formula with DHA and ARA as well as comfort proteins and iron. Natural Cultures formula also includes Bifidus BL and claims to increase baby's antioxidants and nucleotides.  One distinguishing...

My daughter is mostly breast fed until 6 months old. When we started supplimenting formula, we had tons of samples & coupons from all 3 major brands, i.e. Enfamil, Similac, & Nestle, so we tried most of them. My daughter is ok with all those formulas, virtually no difference from her responses. Then why I'd rate this to be the best? Not because of the listed ingredients and claimed benefits, it's based on the following observations:

(1) Nestle Supreme Natural Culture looks like expressed breast milk, not foamy, no film left in the bottle.

(2) The poop color (yellowish) is very similar to that of...

My son is mostly breast fed, but at 4 weeks, we started supplementing with a bottle of formula, both so I could get some rest and because experience with my nieces and nephews taught us that starting bottles (and formula) by 4-6 weeks was important for future acceptance of them.

We started with Enfamil, because we had a ton of samples, and because our son was a bit colicky and prone to spit it up, and it was the first formula we'd used, didn't notice the spit up as much. What we did notice was that he became somewhat constipated, and we had to start giving him juice to loosen him up.

We recently...

I have used Enfamil, Similac and Good Start.  From now on I will only be using Good Start Natural Cultures for my son.  I will also be exclusively recommending it to my patient families.  The Natural Cultures  help to regulate our son's stooling better then either Similac or Enfamil.  That also includes the Enfamile Gentlease.  He has much less gas as well.

When my daughter was born (even before she was conceived for that matter) I made the conscious decision to nurse her as long as possible (with the one exception- the second she started cutting teeth I was done!) I nursed her for four and a half months before I noticed the tell tale bumps and irritability of teething, at this time I decided for both of our sakes that we would switch to formula. Being a first time mom and as such having no experience with formula I assumed that all formulas were the same. I quickly learned that this was not the case. My once super healthy very regular baby was going... read full review »

We LOVE this formula (found at Wal-Mart in Ontario Canada)! My little girl (she's 5 months old) has been exclusively formula fed since she was about 1 month old and ever since she's had constipation issues - hard dry pellets and pain involved. We've tried so many types of formula...Similac, Enfamil, Parent's Choice and Parent's Choice Gentle, Low Iron (on the advice of our physician). We had even tried sugar water, diluted prune juice & corn syrup mixed in with her formula. None of these were a solution to her constipation. We decided to try this formula (the natural cultures tag caught our eye)... read full review »

\After having to switch formula after formula after formula and not finding any results, I finally tried Nestle Good Start Supreme with Natual Cultures.  I could tell the difference in less than a week!  He was not the fussy baby that I was used to and he was spitting up a lot less than he did on other formula.  I didn't switch him to this formula until he was 7-8mths old!  I really wished I would have started him on it as soon as I stopped breast feeding!!!!  I was amazed at the difference the formula made.  I suggest this formula over any other formula out there!

My baby is 4 months old now. I was able to breastfeed him until he was 3.5 months old. Then, I started using formula. I NEVER thought in my life, you have to be so lucky to find the right formula for your baby the first time. The problem is so many kind of formula is out there and I was desperate to find one for him which doesn't cause constipation.... (my doctor didn't suggest a brand to use)....so first, I tried the Target brand "gentlease" (purple can) formula but my baby got really really constipated. I tried to ease him with Karo syrup or prune-apple juice (according to my doctor's nurse it's... read full review »

I love the Good Start product. This product was very good with my son, because

I had to go through 5 different formulas before I found Good Start. Good Start was very

easy for my son and now my daughter to digest. It also didn't get them constipated when

they were just starting on formula. So if you ask me I prefer Good Start over any other

formula out there. But I do have to say that wish the price was about 10.00 dollars less

then what it is now. Other than that I love this formula.

My 3 month old son has been on this since birth.  They are the highest coupon amount and cheaper than Similac and Enfamil.  He has less spit up and has bowel movements more regularly.

I am a first time mom who goes to college, I was breastfeeding my baby when I had time off but when it was time to go back to school I need a formula that would do great for my baby. I started my baby off with Enfamil which constipated him so badly that it made me cry to see him in so much pain. He went almost a week without having a bowel movement, I was to the doctor every other week to resolve this problem, they told me to try Enfamil lactose free, I gave it to him once but when I told my cousin I started him on that she said to stop because it constipated her baby so I did. I then tried SMA,...

All of my children have had colic. I tried all kinds of different formulas and techniques. I eventually picked up Nestle Good Start Natural Cultures DHA/ARA. I found out that it has the same natural cultures in it as most yogurts, which I knew were good for digestive health. To my surprise it worked, my first child took to the formula and no longer stayed up for hours crying. No more spitting up! No more loooooong nights of screaming. Now, it was only peace and quiet. So, I tried it with my other children from the day that they came home and it WORKED. I had cut out the curse!! I was so happy and...

My daughter , now six,  I know a long time ago. However, my son was on Nutramagen (liquid gold). So when she was born I was thrilled that carnation was good with her. Actually, she was on soy first and that binded her and made her so gassy.

I took a chance and bought carnation since it was the reasonable and they had something called comfort proteins. When you are not getting any sleep you are willing to try anything. I was counting on those comfort proteins.  Anyway, it had a happy ending. My daughter did very well on the formula. Plus, it did not smell nasty, or stain clothing and trust me...
