It is intended for adults and children over the age of two. If you have a child younger than that please talk with your doctor. I was able t apply it two to four times a day. I would have liked to use it more but I would never exceed the recommended dose.
Store it between 20 degrees and 77 degrees. I've used it in the past as well as recently. I've kept it in our travel trailer while on the road. We don't leave the air conditioning on when we go out and I know it gets hot in there. I haven't seen any diminished affect but perhaps now that I know this I'll put it in the refrigerator when I leave and if I'm traveling.
The active ingredients are 1.5% Allantoin, which is a skin protectant and 1.0% of Pamoxine, which is an external analgesic.
The inactive ingredients are petrolatum, vitamin E, olive oil, cocoa butter, cottonseed oil, sodium pyruvate, flavor, propylparaben
Neosporin is for painful and itchy (Mine have never been itchy!) cold sores and severely dry, chapped lips. It's not intended for puncture wounds, animal bites or serious burns. We are told that if your symptoms get worse after seven days or come back right away see your doctor. I absolutely agree but since this has worked for me I haven't been put in that position. This is not an antibiotic.
Keep Neosporin Lip Treatment away from children. It may be tempting to pretend it's lipstick!
As soon as I put it on the corners of my mouth (This last episode was on both sides.) I felt the numbing effects of the Pamoxine and could open my mouth without pain. Every time I've used Neosporin LT my cold sores have gone away within several days. I've also applied it to my lips during our Massachusetts's winters and have gotten relief from the moisturizing affects.
I'll continue buying Neosporin LT. It's possible at some point, especially with an autoimmune disease, that a product will stop working and I'll try another. For now this is great.
By the way....I asked the pharmacist what she would recommend. She looked at the various products I had in my hand and then took me right to Neosporin.

I like it!
