NeilMed Sinus Rinse —

My doctor recommended that I try NeilMed Sinus Rinse to help clear out my sinuses.  Just those words, Sinus Rinse, made me nervous.  Rinsing out your sinuses????  That sounds.....scary!  However, since I suffer constantly with the feeling of pressure and inflammation in and around my sinus area, I thought it was worth a try.

I purchased the entire kit at my local pharmacy.  It included the rinse bottle, an instructional guide and several packets of rinse powder.  The cost was right around $ 12.00.  How it works is, you empty one pack of the powder into the bottle and add warm water to the indicated line.  Now, this is where it gets nerve-racking.  Lean over the sink with your head down.  Stick the rinse bottle up to your nose and gently squeeze the bottle.  DON'T PANIC!  It is a very weird sensation and will almost feel like you're drowning.  (I've found that if I leave my mouth open when I do this process, I feel more at ease)  The water rushes through your sinus cavity and comes out the other nostril.  Then, you do it to the other side.  When you're through, gently blow your nose.

Once you get accustomed to the sensation, it is easier to do and the benefits of sinus rinsing are immediately felt.  My sinuses feel clearer, and they are, because rinsing them out rids dust, pollen, animal dander, and other allergens that irritate the sinuses.  Using the sinus rinse is also good for post nasal drip, congestion, dryness, nasal allergies and sinus problems, and the common cold.  There are many benefits to this procedure.  As soon as I begin to feel pressure in my sinuses, I use a sinus rinse.  It really helps.

You don't want to use the rinse under certain circumstances.  For instance, do not use the rinse if your nasal passage is completely blocked, or if you have an ear infection or blocked ears. If you experience any pressure in the ears, stop using the rinse.

I would HIGHLY recommend NeilMed Sinus Rinse to ANYONE that suffers from chronic sinus problems or allergies.  I am proof that it helps.

what happens when you use the rinse when your nose is completely blocked?

Great minds think alike: I was wondering how do you rinse out your sinuses? My folks would say go blow your nose and I will not blow my nose in public.

I'm not too sure about putting that up my nose. One time my brother put peas in his ear and we had to go to the ER so the dr. could retrieve them.

Made you laugh, didn't I? ~Gigi

I love this product. With daily use I am breathing so much easier (although I admit it was a very weird sensation at first). Glad it's working for you too. :)

That does sound scary but glad to hear it works.

Just what I needed to read today -- my allergies are kicking in with the weather changes.

My husband faithfully uses this exact product every day. I was thinking of getting a neti pot. Jo
