I use NeilMed NasaMist saline spray frequently, to relieve congestion. The concept is similar to a neti pot, but not as messy (or, in my opinion, as effective) . While not as effective as an oral medication, it works well to clear out the sinuses prior to using a nasal spray. It also works well to cleanse the sinuses daily during allergy season, making allergic symptoms milder. It is fairly easy to use, and it's easily used outside of the home (unlike sinus rinses). I like using this saline spray as my first line of defense to relieve congestion. I am sensitive to the effects of many oral medications, such as pseudoephedrine, so like to avoid them when possible. The cost, while fairly reasonable, is not as inexpensive as using a neti pot is, in the long run. For more severe congestion, I would suggest one of those. Immediacy Within minutes of using this spray, you'll be able to more easily blow your nose and breathe easier.
