a mixture of old and new
Necco Wafers candies are made by the New England Confectionary Company headquartered in Revere, Massachusetts. The company introduced them in 1912 so they have been around for a while now. They are easy to transport and do not melt so they make great additions to packages sent by mail. a mom & grandma, enormous sweet tooth
I began eating Necco candy when I was a little girl. I do love chocolate, but when I don't want chocolate this one works. When I was little I was pretty picky about the flavors and did not like candy that was lime or lemon as it always had a funny taste. Necco flavors are licorice (my favorite) grayish black, clove purple, cinnamon white, wintergreen pink, orange orange, lemon yellow, lime green, and chocolate brown. Chocolate Necco's are my least favorite, but I eat them with the orange or lemon. Even though Necco is mostly sugar it is still my favorite. I keep them…

Perhaps one of the most insidious confections designed by man. Somehow I see this as the being a lowly taste treat during the depression. I also get the idea that people who like this are of the same ilk as those who put ketchup on eggs and gorge themselves with sliced white bread at dinner.…
