The artists’ second album Because of You released in 2007 is already certified platinum and our community of R&B listeners like what they hear. Ne-Yo is a young and up and coming star in R&B and pop music. Actually, based off the success of his rookie album, and this second album, maybe he's not up and coming anymore. In fact, I'd expect his next album to be as good or even better.

Because of you....I am worried about r&b.

This 1 star rating is not the direct result of my dislike for mainstream r&b music.....it is the direct result of having a sound that is not modern or creative. For me it all sounds the same and on the rare occasion I listen to the radio if I hear one Ne-Yo song I have heard them all....even the ballads............YAWNNNNNNNNNNN!... review »

Ne-Yo is to R & B as Kanye West is to hip-hop. Penning songs for others has helped Ne-Yo with his own solo project "In My Own Words." You must have been under a rock if you hadn't heard the debut song "So Sick" on the radio. Believe it or not, this isn't the best song on the CD. His lyrics are on point and there's not a bad song on the CD. The ladies have dominated R & B lately, but Ne-Yo is representing well for the male artists.
With a voice that's soothing to listen, Ne-Yo's In My Own Words will appeal to both men and women listeners.

Such is the appeal of Shaffer "Ne-Yo" (pronounced "Nee-Yoh")...

this album has a lot of good songs on it..some of the songs helped me thru some rough times..ne-yo is a great singer and song writer. he has written some good songs for other artists and he sings and writes about things that a lot of us are going though or have gone through.he is one person that i recommend that you listen too..he is incredibly talented

I bought this cd and I listen to it every day. My favorite is shorty is a ten and I love te way he dances. I f I could dance like that I would. At his young age he is a star and I think he represents hisself like a proffessional. I wonder if he will be around in a few years most young stars fall off with in a couple years. Only time will tell if this young super star has good enough music to stay on the seen. I love the photos taken of him on the cd. Hes sexy a little small I like bigger guys but he looks good. Sometimes he sounds like hs whining but everyone has their own style. His music makes... review »

NeYos real name is Shaffer Smith. He was born on October 18, 1982!! Ne-Yo is part of a family of musicians from Arkansas. He grew up in a single parent home. Ne-Yo's mother moved the family to Las Vegas, Nevada while he was growing up, and it was there he discovered his love for and interest in music. Ne-Yo began writing songs at an early age. Ne-Yo's big break in the music business occurred in early 2005 when Mario's single "Let Me Love You" topped pop and r&b charts. The song was co-written by Ne-Yo with Scott Storch and Kam Houf. Ne-Yos song is great. Ne-yo has continued to write amazing songs, all topping the charts. Ne-yo is great if you are into tasteful R & B. He is not only one minded- Ne-yos cd is well written and not all about the same thing. He is tasteful and not like some rap artists. He has collaborated with other great artists only to produce even more billboard hits. I would suggest this to everyone!

Ne-Yo has done it again with the follow-up to In My Own Words. Because of You is album rich in melodies, lyrics and beats. This album shows transition from he debut and also summarizes his take the on the ins and outs of what he has experienced in relationships. It is evident that this writer turned singer will be around for years to come.

Ne-yo - Because of You is an extremely catchy song that anybody would enjoy. The video is entertaining and it really sets the tone for the rest of his album. Not to mention that the remix with Kanye West is off the hook.  For the first six months after this single came out I could not turn on my radio without hearing it.  The song can be enjoyed on just about any good occasion, whether it be dance, chill, riding in your car, at a club or bar, or at a party... it definately gets people going.  The song is fun to sing along to.  Ne-Yo definately hit the nail on the head with this song and was... review »

Ne-Yo - Because Of You is a great song. It's a song you can dance too while letting that special someone know how you feel. Ne-Yo did a good job and continues to do a good job with every song and album he releases. I beleive Ne-Yo will be around for a long time. I would like to see him seperate himself away from the Ushers and Chris Browns. His recent single "ms independent" sound just like Usher. If he can seperate himself from everyone else and become his own person, he will be around for a long time.

This is an AMAZING cd!! If you are a R&B fan you will LOVE this CD.  Ne-yo is an amazing writer. He is very creative in his song writing and always relates to his listening audience! He is truly a talented artist and it shows on this album.

I love this album Neyo really is a fantastic artist and a phenomenal songwriter.  If you are a R & B lover like myself then this is certainly an classic this guy has exstensive talent . great melodies ,great hooks, great composition ! catchy tunes from begging to end and great love grooves check out the song (Say It ) it's awesome!

Neyo will be around for a long time a legend in the making!
