I will start with the one problem I have with this GPS - I believe many maps update automatically, and this one does not. I might be able to do it, but I have never looked into it. I believe newer models update on their own. Something to think about. However, at the time I bought this one it was state of the art. The pictures are very easy to read and it is very useful for highway exits. I am able to hear the voice well and like the nighttime settings. I would recommend it, minus the maps not updating. Sometimes I get lost now, because there is a new road. Also, it is very slow to turn on and get a signal. I am guessing this is better in newer models.

I bought this GPS because it was not the average Tom Tom,, or any other GPS at the time.  I have owned and operated it for several years.  I would recommend this brand of GPS over Garmin or any other.  Navigon was advertising in magazines long before others, and that is how I found out about them.  I think they are more popular in Europe or other countries than here.  I really like the way it shows the actual exit ramps you need to take on the display in a complicated interstate highway.  Accuracy is within 10 ft of the point you are at.  This is an earlier model and there are now several newer ones they have created.  I am still waiting for mine to go bad or become obsolete, but so far it hasn't.  I guess I'll have to buy a new one and sell this one in a garage sale.  I loved the Navigon 5100.  I never got lost or miss directed.

The Navigon 5100 GPS is over all a great product.  The only gripe I have about it is that the volume can't be adjusted as loud as I'd like it.  It's hard to hear when your windows are open.  It gets free traffic reports.  They tell you if the traffic is stop and go or at a standstill and give you the option to reroute your trip.  The graphics can be set so that you can see the interstate with signs and lanes so it's easier to make your exits.  There is also a feature that will alert you if you are speeding. Each new turn is shown both on the map and in writing on the bottom of the screen.  This makes it easier if you can't quite hear it.  It has a pleasant female voice that will tell you what turns to make and which side of the road your destination is on.  You can set the Navigon 5100 for use with a car, bicycle, or walking.  The windshield mount for this GPS is great.  It's a long arm with a swivel head.  It mounts with a large suction cup.  You just twist the GPS on and it's locked in.  To remove it you simply press a button and twist again.  The length of the mount is great because it puts the GPS close to you and within reach.

I love the navigon 5100t it is easy to use and has a large 4.3 acreen. Tells how fast you are driving and the time and estimated time to your destination.Actual Highway signs and lanes shown with side street names on either side off higway. So easy to transfer contacts and phone numbers from your blue toothcell phone into your navigon 5100. I was fascinated at the light speed it transferred the contacts and phone numbers. You can pair your blue tooth cell phone to the navigon 5100 and put 4 top friends or family or any important number that you use to 1 of 4 speed dial buttons. Very easy to work with and handle. Easy mounting and removal.You can actually carry navigon 5100 in your purse or coat pocket when you leave your car to shop or whatever stops you make. I have had 2 gps stolen from me a nextar gps and a navigon 7100t that was my favorite .  The navigon 5100 to me is great , good sound , great clarity , well spoken words ,and the screen has night time adjustable touch screen so as not to be too bright and just the way you like it without irritating you while driving. To me this is a great plus to be able to adjust brightness and volume.  I love the real view 3d feature and live traffic alerts. And the way the highway signs look. I wish it had a little car instead of a pointer but in my book it is great the way it is .  Plus it give not only directions to where you are going but gives address and phone number . This makes it easy to call hands free to make reservations or call an order of food in so every thing will be available and ready when you arrive. I used the navigin 5100 to find a dry cleaners I had never heard of that was running a special on dry cleaning in an area of my own town that I am not familiar with. The navigon 5100 took me the shortest route and straight to the door. Then i used it to return home. I bid on my navigon 5100 to buy it from a reliable bidding site and saved a lot of money and am very pleased.  I am al about deals and sales  , but great quality!!!!!  Connie
