We received a bag of Nature's Earth Feline Pine Cat Litter as a sample from a pet store that was having its grand opening. We liked the idea that it was natural and claimed that there was no tracking, no dust and especially no odor. Unfortunately, our cat didn't like this litter and refused to use it after a week.
The Facts
Feline Pine promises:
My Experience
When we first brought this bag of litter home, the claims were encouraging and we really hoped it worked as it said. We replaced our cat's litter with the Feline Pine which looked like small green cylinder shaped pellets. Immediately the scent of pine was present and the outlook was promising. We waited for our cat to try it out as this would be the final test. We watched her enter the box and noticed right away that she didn't like the feel of the pellets on her feet. We figured that she just wasn't used to it. She got out, got back in and finally did urinate in the litter box. We noticed that the litter absorbed the urine and broke down into sawdust but we realized that it still did stick to her paws and caused some tracking. Within about a week we noticed that our cat wouldn't enter the litter box anymore. She started going to the bathroom on the floor around the box instead of in it. For some reason, she didn't like this litter and if she won't go in the box, what good is the litter?
My Final Viewpoint
Unfortunately, Nature's Earth Feline Pine Cat Litter didn't work out well for us. There are still many good reasons for others to use this litter and most of the manufacturer claims were true. In our case because our cat was too finicky for whatever reason and didn't like it on her paws, we no longer use this brand. I recommend it to others because it is worth a try due to the natural aspects of the litter. It is available at Wal-Mart for $4.94 for a 7 pound bag as well as other stores for similar prices. I am going with a 3 star rating because I can't completely blame the litter for our cat's refusal to use it.
