We started using Feline Pine after I'd read about it on the web. We just have one cat, but the chemical smell of all the litters we had tried was gross. I thought we just had to live with that until I found this. Transitioning over took some time, and without the special litterbox, it was nearly useless. So we did have to buy the sifting litterbox from Feline Pine (couldn't find in any local stores) and we really still need to get the matching scoop.
But it is definitely worth it as there is no specific smell to the litterbox now. It still needs to be scooped daily (poop just is going to smell no matter what!) and sifted daily to keep it fresh. The sifted portions that end up in the bottom of the box really only have to be dumped out once or twice a week. It's less wasteful than regular litter that you have to dump the whole thing out to change it. That is not necessary if you also use the special box, the portions that stay in the top of the box can be reused until they are no longer in pellet form.
I read a few reviews that said their cats would not use it. Because it is so different from normal litter, you really do need to follow the directions that tell you how to transition your cat from old litter.
