I recently received a sample of the Nature Made Vitamelts Vitamin D Dietary Supplement. After reading all of the articles on the vitamins that the New York State government was suing for failure to provide the active ingredients, I have been particularly concerned about the supplements I have been taking. So, when I received this sample, I decided to research whether this brand had been involved in any controversy. Much to my satisfaction, they had not. Consequently, I made the decision to give these a try. I am not using a user of the melting type of supplement. But, these pleasantly surprised me. They didn't taste awful; instead tasting pleasant. It was a really easy process to take the supplement. Given that so much of the health literature has recently discussed the importance of getting sufficient Vitamin D, this product seems like a no brainer. It's effective, efficient and efficacious. How could ask for more?

A couple of weeks ago at my drugstore they had Nature Made VitaMelts on special promotion. With a coupon, I was able to get them practically for free, so I decided to try these Vitamin D VitaMelts because I know that I don't get the daily recommendation for VIt D from sunlight during the winter time. The size of the container and the product is great and very convenient if you want to have your VitaMelts available on the go. Each tablet has 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 which is what a lot of sources recommend one should get daily. However, the taste of this product is quite off-putting which is what stops me short of recommending it. From my experience with the other VitaMelt products (I've tried the Vit C and Sleep), they all have a bit of a chalkiness in texture/taste as they dissolve so that was expected. But the "vanilla" flavor of these tasted terrible (this coming from someone who loves vanilla) and it lingered in my mouth for quite a while after the tablet finished dissolving despite my best efforts to get rid of it by eating something and chewing gum. The experience was very unpleasant, and unless you are something that truly cannot swallow pills, I would not recommend this product.

I have tried many vitamins and take many at different times of the year to insure that I am receiving all the essential vitamins that I need. I like to take vitamin D in the winter especially. I choose these vita melts as my top choice because they taste so great. It makes taking a vitamin much more enjoyable. The secret is to let the vitamin melt on your tongue and not just chew it up. I can't wait to take mine every morning. My biggest problem is limiting myself to two per day. They have no nasty aftertaste either and Nature Made is really good about offering coupons and stores often have sales for these items. I can't be certain that these offer all the benefits that consumers like myself assume they carry. Overall though, I think this is one of the best vitamin D products on the market. I don't really like gigantic pills and these are small and melt away right on your tongue.

I buy these in the winter when I need extra Vitamin D. (I find that without natural sunlight that provides vitamin D naturally, my mood and my energy can slump.) Because Calcium and Vitamin D work together to support bone health, too, I think it would be helpful for this Vitamelt to include a dose of Calcium as well. Maybe the manufacturer will consider this in the future. The Vitamin D Vitamelt tastes great and is very small. It melts quickly into a sort of chalky paste, but it isn't off-putting at all. And for those that struggle to swallow or dislike the chewables (because they don't like taking them after brushing their teeth, like me or don't love the aftertaste), it provides a nice alternative. It provides 100%+ the daily recommended allowance of Vitamin D in 2 tablets. NatureMade is a brand that puts out a lot of coupons and goes on sale frequently. I love these ways to boost the value I get from their products. Plus, Nature Made offers Wellness Reward Points in the form of codes on their packages that can be used to acquire incentives.

I was so excited to try a new way to take my vitamin D. I take a lot of pills already and was looking forward to the "melt in my mouth" experience. Well, this is one place I was not failed in my expectations for this product. You place it under your tongue and it very smoothly melts away. My reason, however, for the mediocre overall score of this product is the taste. I believe it is a poor imitation of the vanilla flavor. I have tried others in this line of vitamins and the flavored are simply awesome. I think they stopped short on this product once they came "close enough" and sadly, this is a choice that will cost them my business the next time I need to buy vitamin D again. However, if you tend to forget to take your vitamins, the container is small enough to carry on the go, and you don't need water to take it. Maybe that can be the redeeming factor for this product! Maybe it would be best to take the vitamin D alongside another flavor for a smoothie experience.

I always love getting samples in the mail, but wasn't so sure when I undid the sachet that contained 2 Nature Made VitaMilets Vitamin D Dietary Supplement. Instead of having tablets, I had powder. It says to take 1 tablet a day, but it was hard for me to work out how much powder to take. When I did put it in my mouth, it almost made me choke. I had to drink water immediately. After this, I could taste what I thought was vanilla, or a toffee flavor. Each tablet contains Vitamin D3, and the amount is 1000 IU, which is 250% of the daily value. I honestly can't give you an opinion on these 'VitaMelts' as it didn't happen for me. With that in mind, I will not be buying them.
