Let's start out by saying that I try to be pretty careful about what I eat, so I think my dog Libby deserves the same consideration (although left to make her own choices, I have noticed that she sometimes eats some pretty disgusting stuff--lol.) I try to stick with food that doesn't have artifical preservatives or artificial coloring, and as far as pet food goes, "animal by-products" are a big no-no. I look for high quality ingredients, and I'm willing to pay more for them, even though I don't have lots of money.
Libby has some allergy issues; sometimes she is itchy and her coat gets on the dry side, but since she has been eating Natural Balance Fish and Sweet Potato Formula canned dog food, her coat has been softer and shinier, and the itching is at a minimum. She's not a real picky eater, but I can tell when she's enthusiastic about a particular kind of food, and she really enjoys eating this one.
I like that this food consists of high quality fish protein and the carbohydrate source, sweet potatoes, is a nutritious and highly digestible food item.
I am also pleased that Natural Balance says that it donates to local animal charities; I belong to a small local rescue group, and I know what a struggle it is to find enough money to do what it takes to spay and neuter companion animals and then find them good homes.
The price of this food is typical for a premium canned dog food; I usually buy it at Petco. I like Petco because they too are very supportive of local rescue groups, and they have signs all over their store encouraging people to ADOPT rather than buy a pet. So Natural Balance and Petco get the 'thumbs up' from me.
