Dealing with Nationwide Awful company

1

My husband has not worked for the company that uses Nationwide for their 401K. It has been five month sense he left his employer. He has called tons of time to get his 401K and he gets the run around. This company should be ashamed of not releasing the money that he put in to his 401k. I would never recommend them for your saving for retirement. Look into an IRA or another company.

Nationwide Retirement has some of the worst customer service I have encountered. It is very hard to get a hold of anyone to even find out who you need to speak to. My calls are not returned and my emails are not answered.

Rude and Slow

Requested and have approval for a hardship withdrawal. It has been a week. Transaction history not showing the withdrawal. Of course don't have the funds in my account yet. Called to confirm that they have the request and processed it. The "customer service " who answered my call sounded like they had answered the call from a sound sleep. Also acted offended that I dare call about MY MONEY. It's called a hardship for a reason. Hardships are emergent in nature. They're taking their sweet time to give me my money. They actually as if your money is theirs. Every day that they delay, the hardship that I need the funds to resolve gets worse.

Avoid nationwide at all cost if you have retirement money

1

I've been trying to get my retirement account transferred to a different company for the past three months. Every time I submit a form they asked for another form. Every time I submit another form they say it's incomplete and want me to do another form their representatives are incompetent. Their company is a joke. If your money is anywhere near nationwide, they will lose it or you'll never see it if you want to move it.

Earns Nationwide a lot of money on YOUR work

1

Your entire portfolio had better earn more than 11.4 percent in the next ten years. Otherwise, Nationwide fees are 1.14% per year, simply for providing a horrible Target Retirement Fund via Vanguard (commissions to Nationwide, of course).. Which over the last ten years avg yield was 6%. YOUR 401K WILL FUND NATIONWIDE's SCAM.

High fees are deliberately hidden.

The plan itself is OK and if you don't read your statement carefully, you would think the fees are low. But if you read carefully you will find an asset fee mentioned. In my case it is 1.22% This is charged ON TOP of any fees embedded in the mutual funds you choose. I did not spot this fee for two years because it was so well hidden. They actually "create"their own version of the mutual fund so that they can take the fee out without ever specifIcally showing it on the statement. I am actively encouraging my employer to transfer our 401K to a more cost effective plan (Vanguard has one).

Nationwide and a great TPA works well for me

I use the Nationwide platform and Steidle Pension Solutions handles the Plan for us. We have been really happy with the service that Steidle provides and Nationwide's website is very user friendly. Our administration is completed very efficiently and all reports that we request are produced professionally.

High fees, no transparency

1

My company uses Nationwide for our 401k and I'm totally unsatisfied with them. 0.61% fee for an index fund. Are you joking? My Vanguard funds are only 0.06%. Moreover, there is no transparency for dividends paid. How can my low cost broker (Vanguard) give me all these features at a low cost and Nationwide cannot? Unbelievable! Hopefully my employer switches or I'm going to be paying 10X higher in fees for awhile.
