Nationwide Insurance Reviews

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is a large business that offers insurance policies for auto, home, renting, business, life, etc. along with financial services for investing, saving, debt management, etc. This company is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 1925, Nationwide has grown to a very large size, and it ranks among the nation's largest insurers. It offers several different insurance products, but the one I am most familiar with is Nationwide's Auto Insurance. Let's take a closer look at this insurance company and see how its coverage stacks up against the competition:

As savvy as I pretend to be, my husband was in charge of finding the right insurance company for us and we have been very happy with Nationwide for several years now.  We are on a first name basis with our agent and she always promptly returns our phone calls.  I find their rates very reasonable, and added with their excellent customer service, you can't go wrong when you choose Nationwide.

 Also, when we had rental homes and flipped houses, Nationwide was one of the few agencies willing to work with us.  Several insurance companies would only insure the primary residence and not cover...

Home (ahahahahahahahahahah) Insurance.

Nationwide in Odessa Texas screwed over my wife and I on covering substantial hail damage. Representatives lied to us once, and insulted me twice. The payout system worked like this: They "allowed" us over $10,000 in hail damage to our home, and sent us a check for less than half, the adjuster assuring us that they would send us the balance when the roof was fixed.

We used to have Nationwide Insurance for our homeowners insurance.  We purchased it when we relocated to Houston from Knoxville.  Over the three years we had it they had bad customer service, shoddy business practices and changes or increases without contacting policy holder to tell them. 

Let me give you a few examples: 

My dishwasher broke and flooded my downstairs kitchen area which is an open floor. When calling to find out my deductible I received three different answers - all of them equaling that it is a percentage of the value of my home. I said ok, well the taxed value is this, no...

Nationwide was not particularly helpful in getting a rental car after I was rearended by a tourbus.  I chose to deal with their insurance company (I ended up getting a lawyer).  I should state though that our insurance was still in California and we were in Mississippi and the accident had been in Alabama (We are military).  When my daughter was in an accident they were wonderful.  They were very helpful in getting our car repaired promptly. 

After Hurricane Katrina it took about 2 weeks to get an adjuster out (that was relatively quick compared to a lot of people).  After the assessment...

I started out with Nationwide with my first car, many many years ago.  I've never regretted that  decision, and never wanted to try anyone else.

I've heard friends talk about their insurance nightmares and hassles.  It's never been any problem to report a claim, change my vehicle, double check rates and ask for the best one for me.   I notice that whenever there is a commercial for insurance comparisons, Nationwide is never included in the choices.   I also notice that my rates are lower than the rates that are quoted or promised on any internet ad.
