Nationwide Insurance —

I had Nationwide insurance until two days ago and thats when our long term relationship ended.I have been using Nationwide for the last three possibly 4 years and I kind of always thought their rates were a little high but I chalked i up to the ever rising cost of auto insurance so I paid it and didnt even complain. My husband had two points on his license ofr speeding not even 10 miles over the speed limit on his way to work, got caught in 2007 by the same cop two days apart on his way to work going 7 miles over the speed limit. It must have been national ticket month because he got him both times and we paid the tickets off and avoided court and of course I gave him the third degree about hwy he should just take his time and luckily for me he has not gotten another one so it must have worked. The first thing that happend was we were contacted not to long after and our insurance rate went up due to the two points and I was like Ok.I couldnt really dispute it or so I thought.I gladly paid for my collsion on my 2001 Dodge Caravan. It went from $69 dollars a month to $169.00.I was angry about it because I had no tickets but we paid.A week ago almost to today we bought another good used car a 2002 Ford Taurus and I love it so the dealershp faxe over my info and I was going in the next afternoon to make sure I was insured, and to sign the papers adn to just make sure everything was covered by collison and was fine. The next day I called and talkd to an associate and ask aboutt he rate increase and I was expecting some but not to much because my driving record is perfect and I had no points. The associate informed me that now I was going to be paying $214.00 a month for 2 cars becaus of his two points and I wad like no I am not thats ridiculous so after I got off the phone I calle other comapnies shopping for a new insurer.By the way I always wondered why Nationsides name was never on my insurance papers but some other name was but I thought that was the way it worke and then I found Gieco.I found out throught gieco not only could I get a much better rate for the same coverage but also for a 100 and a few dollars less.I got the same coverage my husbands points and all for $109.00 a month and thats locked.I coul nto believe it and their name would be on my insuarance papers. They explain to me that Nationswide was what they call a broker and all of this time I was paying not only for my auto insurance but a broker fee along with it every month to them for getting insurance from them and thats why their name was not on the insurance papers and someone elses was.I was paying them idiots to do what I could have donr myself.I searched for insurance through the yellow pages and found them so why should I be paying them for signing up fr a policy and why was I not told they were brokers and I was paying them to do this! I will never make this mistake again and if I was anyone else just beware and especially if your just trying to get coverage and the best rate because Nationwide is not on your side,or etleast not in Hickory NC.
