When I got my first car at sixteen, my Dad took me right to our Nationwide agent and put me on his policy. I am now forty-six years old, and I still have the same policy with the same insurance agent. I have also just added my seventeen-year old son to my policy, so it is clear that I would recommend this company to anyone.
I have had two accidents in the entire time that I have been covered, but my rates have never gone up due to either of those accidents. In both cases, when I had to contact the toll free accident reporting line, I have received immediate and friendly help from the customer service representatives that I have spoken with. Once the accidents were reported, my part was done. Nationwide took care of everything for me, including dealing with the other drivers' insurance companies, all medical costs for myself and the others involved in the accidents, payment for time lost from work, and full tort coverage for my car. Reimbursement checks arrived promptly and with no stress on my end. I was allowed simply to worry about the business of getting better, so that I could get back to work and on with my life.
At one point, I too wondered if I might be able to get lower rates through another company, and I used an on-line service to research other carriers. When I asked a representative at Geico if they would be able to give me a better rate than I already had, he said no. I had a similar experience with the representatives of each of the other insurance companies with which I spoke; that is those of which I was actually able to get a representative and did not have to leave a voice mail message.
As a last note, the primary reason that I would not be tempted to switch carriers is the personal service that I and my family have received over the years from our agent. He is always available, and I can honestly say, always answers his own telephone. He has been able to answer any questions that I have ever had regarding my policy or premiums on the spot, or he has gotten an answer from the corporate office with a day or two at most. I simply cannot imagine myself switching carriers and consider myself a loyal Nationwide customer.
