National Treasure: Book of Secrets Review Summary

National Treasure: Book of Secrets is "just as enjoyable as the first one." While most found this to be a great sequel, a very few reviewers found Book of Secrets to be not as good as the first one (National Treasure), and a rip-off of Indiana Jones. Reviewers do agree that the lengths to which Nicholas Cage goes in this film putting together clues is rather far-fetched and unrealistic. Despite this, moviegoers left with the theater with the hope a third National Treasure film after feeling as if this first sequel alluded to it. Overall, Book of Secrets is "another gem of a movie!"

Lets see: completely unrealistic, two dimensional characters, a rip-off of Indiana Jones, not as good as the first one, where do I start?

If I had never seen a big Hollywood blow up spectacular, this movie would be great. If I were 17 and seeing it with a hot girl, it would be great. Otherwise, not so...

My daughter had to convince me to go with her to this movie, but boy, was I ever glad I did!!  Normally, I prefer going to see romantic comedies, but this movie had some of that plus alot more!  The plot was excellent and I thought the actors did an excellent job of relating to each other during the film. I loved the chemistry between Nicholas Cage and his ex, and between his 2 estranged parents. I didn't see the first National Treasure movie, but I intend to borrow the DVD from my son or daughter this weekend and watch it. The movie made history "come alive" for me, and although some of the... review »

I promise that I will not give anything away with my review.  It is my opinion that this is the best sequel ever.  I didn't really enjoy the first movie.  My family loved it.  The only reason I went to the theater to see, this is because they forced me.  The movie lasted a little over two hours but you would never have known it.  It was so fast paced and action packed that those two hours were over before you knew it.  My only complaint with the movie is that it is very far fetched.  But you knew that if you watched the first one.

I really enjoyed this movie.  I love Nicholas Cage and think he is a wonderful actor.  The story was a little far-fetched but still very interesting.  I love a good story, and this one was good.  The ending was not what I expected and left a little something to be desired.  I enjoyed the interaction between characters especially the couples very realistic arguments and squabbles.  I would recommend this film to just about anyone, and plan to buy it on DVD when it comes out.

My husband bought Nation Treasures for the family.  It was very enjoyable.  Some parts of the story were a little out there, but all in all the history in National Treasures was great.  It made us see the Declaration of Independence in a different way.  My teens were very intrigued and actually went to the library to research which parts of the movie National Treasures was real and which was not.

This movie was very good. It was full of action and history and definately kept the audiences attention. Nicholas Cage was great as usual. The characters had great chemistry. Watched it on the 4th of July and felt very patriotic. I would recommend this movie to any hustory buff, action movie lover, or American. :)

I went to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets the day it came out.  Despite what you might see in the trailers and it's name... the movie isn't about the Book of Secrets.  That's only a small part of the movie.  My husband saw the previews and thought the movie would be really cheesy, but after seeing it, his opinion changed.  It was much better than what I was expecting.  There was plenty of action, a good bit of comedy (thanks to Riley), drama, romance, and, of course, treasure.

I don't want to give away the ending, but I wouldn't be surprised if you hear of another National Treasure movie...

As someone who doesn't spend a lot of time at the movies, I do spend a lot of time doing the family around the dvd player routine. National Treasure:Book of Secrets is good, it has a new plot, and is great for those who want to know what happened next. As far as the movie goes I was a little disappointed. After watching the first movie and spending a lot of time on the edge of my seat, this one had me wondering when the action would begin. Did they cut out too much or just not put it in? It's a good movie, and has some real enjoyable comic moments, but if you watched the first one it's a let down.... review »

The second National Treasure is much like the first in terms of how the story develops.  The family history continues to unfold as Nicholas Cage's character puts together all of the clues to his newest mystery- still trying to uphold his family's good name.  Historical trivia is ripe throughout.  Many of the things they are able to pull off are highly unbelievable though- escaping the British police in Buckingham Palace would not happen as easily as they managed to make it.  If you saw the first one, this one is a very similar type of movie, focused on Civil War history.  If you didn't see... review »

This was a wonderful, action packed film which taught me a lot about history that I didn't already know!! I was surprised by the amount of action and the fact that this movie was as good as the first.Usually the sequel doesn't turn out to be half as good as the original movie. Not only was the movie educational about history, but there were a lot of clues to figure out and tons of action to keep you on your toes!!

This was an excellent movie to go see as an entire family! The first 'National Treasure' movie was the first my family went to see at the theatres together in a long time. It was great to be brought back again for such a thrilling sequel!

Often we are disappointed by the second movie in a series, but this one takes just as many unexpected twists and turns as the first and makes you feel like a real slueth as you try to keep up with the clues!

I love the first National Treasure and was almost fearful to see the sequel, just because I was afraid that it would be like most.  Not anywhere near as good as the first.  I was pleasantly surprised though!  The second was almost as good as the first.  There were a few issues I had with the movie--the Eagle on the rock and a few historical referrances, but overall it was very good as long as I could suspend my disbelief.

When I heard there was going to be a sequel to "National Treasure", I was excited and a bit skeptical.  It is rare that I enjoy the sequel  to any movie.  I was, however, pleasantly surprised.  "Book of Secrets" was every bit as action-packed as the first movie...even more so.  Though I found it a bit far-fetched, it was fun and entertaining.  That's what I like in a movie.
