NG Little Kids features quality photography, activities, games, and collectible cards in a compact, 24-issue magazine. Each issue is packed with activities such as questions and answers about animals, nature, and science that even very young children find interesting and fun. There are games teaching differences and similarities, counting, matching, rhyming, puzzles and Wild Animal tear out cards with pictures and descriptions of a variety of animals. This is a great resource for parents (and grandparents) to interact with their children in a relaxed and educational setting.
My grandson also has a subscription to Wild Animal Baby which he enjoys immensely, so I figured he'd enjoy NG Little Kids just as much. According to my daughter, he does! He looks forward to receiving and reading his mail with his mom and he knows that it's a gift from his grandmother.
Unlike National Geographic Kids (ages 6 - 14), NG Little Kids doesn't have any advertising in this toddler-friendly edition. The offer that I received was for 6 issues for $15 and a free CD of children's music with the paid subscription. However, I've seen the magazine at major online retailers for an obscenely expensive $24.95 per subscription. I highly recommend going directly to the National Geographic website at littlekids.nationalgeographic.com to get the 6 for $15 rate (which is expensive enough if you ask me). Also, the website has additional free resources to enjoy with your tot.
Overall, if my grandson is happy then I'm happy when it comes to National Geographic Little Kids Magazine. It makes a nice gift for animal-loving toddlers and the parents who read to them
